i fear no one does a thriller like the japanese. the animation is so good and the sound effects are literally hypnotizing, making you feel trapped in a nightmare like the main character is, where you can't even tell reality and illusion apart. I love the topics it addresses, and i think it does a great job in representing the feeling of being forced to play a false version of yourself because that's what others want, but at the same time not being able to satisfy everyone and disappointing others, completely erasing your own identity to please the public. fan obsession toward stars is really scary, we see how they begin to create a version in their head that does not correspond to reality and ends up haunting the real person herself. being a public figure exposes you to many risks and you end up not being able to trust even your loved ones, because they are swept away by the wave of success and obsession too. i loved how the film included a critique of the male gaze toward female celebrities; what the protagonist is forced to do repeatedly is a product of the patriarchal imprint of society. i think the scenes in which we see some male fans criticizing Mira for "selling out" in that way while they are consuming that type of content are very important, showing the hypocrisy of being part of the audience that creates a certain type of demand but still feeling superior. this truly fucks with your mind, but you are gonna enjoy every part of it.

i didnt expect to like this show so much, but here i am wondering what im gonna do with my life now that i have finished it. guess its time to start daredevil the thing is, its so wonderfully written. every storyline feels interesting and purposeful, every character has depth, and their relationships are always intricate in the best way. nothing feels left to chance, and it makes you question your own morals and other people's. frank is a terrific character, soo well written and complicated, and so are dinah, billy and the others. im gonna miss it
