Ran

For my money: RAN (乱) is the greatest movie ever made. It’s visually breathtaking, the score is hauntingly beautiful, and the story is amazing. When the aging warlord Hidetora Ichimonji retires and hands control over to his three sons to ensure peace, the two eldest sons reveal they have no such intentions. It’s an adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, and as we know, Shakespeare’s lines are often tragic and don’t end on good terms.
