Lady Bird
I saw Lady Bird a couple months before I graduated high school, mostly because I wanted to seem super indie and intellectual (very Lady Bird of me). I finished the movie understanding what emotions I was supposed to feel, but ultimately felt indifferent.
Six years later, I'm wiping away my tears as I sit with my unfolded laundry all around my room. I put it on as my chore-movie, and got too distracted seeing Lady Bird's experience reflected into my own pre-college and first year experience. Examples include Nikki to Nikolle, "Give me a number", the mother-daughter banter, and alcohol poisoning!
Greta Gerwig is my inspiration and I hope to one day create something that can build and/or rebuild bridges between women as effectively as she does <3
