Metropolis
Imagine watching this in 1927 and having to work in the factory the next day...i would have gone insane
Imagine watching this in 2025 and having to work 40 plus hours a week for minimum wage...ooops i still am going insane
I will be honest it is the most awesome charming thing i have ever watched. I watch it 100 years later and i still think how did he do it. This dystopian masterpiece is lit as "hel". Even though it is a silent film, it has intensity and the sets are the foundation. Half star is missing because of ideology. I mean the boss clearly exploits his workers and his city. They work 10 hours a day, the shift is insufferable and dangerous, the conditions are pretty stiff. We experience that through the bosse's son. The workers are dying. And they are waiting. They gather and they are waiting for something to change. The boss gets to know about this and plans to manipulate them. And then revolution breaks through an "evil robot" and we love that, we absolutely love that, there is nothing wrong. And then a hole in logic, their children die because of the revolution they started and now she becomes a witch. Everything gets destroyed and eventually the boss is a good guy-head and the workers get in good terms with the boss as his "hands".
NOOOO SIR WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE BOSS BEING KILLED. Don't get me wrong the criticism is there but somehow it makes a twist and censors itself. But its okay its 1927 i understand Fritz
Also it was kinda the movie i waited from one battle after another
