I will be forever grateful to Achal Mishra for making this story. There’s an unexplainable joy in seeing films that feel like they were made from your own memories. I have been to those kacche ghar as a kid, watched them being reconstructed for my own janeu ceremony. I have sat through countless conversations around those dadaji and chacha, where I was the kid from the big city who didn’t speak the language and was constantly annoyed by the lack of power in the house. These are just some of the memories that Achal Mishra recreated for me.No film has ever depicted my life the way Gamak Ghar has.I have lived this film, and there’s more to live.
