It's been over four decades since this film came out, the entire political landscape of India has transformed in this time. All the people present in Party must have had some vision for 21st century, after all they were leaving behind generational wealth in SoBo for their kids to piss away.
But I doubt anyone of them would have expected that even after 40 year of social and political shift, each of the issues that corrupted the nation in 1984 still persists. The tribals of this land are still suffering from the hand of industries, maybe at an even greater pace. Art has grown more hollow and activism is dreaded more than ever.
The only thing different I guess is back the the aristocracy in their kothi (now penthouse) atleat liked to intellectualise the plight of this nation even if they were hypocrite on a personal level. Now they just eat theplas and wait for Nikhil Kamath to drop a new podcast with some bigger parasite.
