i can't believe i cried over a damn whale movie that apparently has daddy issues AND APPARENTLY THIS WAS NEVER ABOUT THE DAMN WHALE FUCK MY LIFE 😭😭😭 JAY YOU GOTTA MOVEEEEEEEE

THIS. IS. PHENOMENAL. My hands were gripping for DEAR LIFE on the cinema seats because of how I'm VIGOROUSLY LOVING THIS MOVIE—NO NOTES WHATSOEVER; THIS IS THE ONE. I COULD ACTUALLY FEEL MATT HAGEN'S YEARNING FOR CAITLYN LIKE YES KINGGG GO GET HERRRRR "I could be anyone you wanted." OHO YOU WISHED YOU WEREN'T AROUND ME AT ALL MATT—OHHHHH I GOT IDEAS ALRIGHT

This movie reminds me so much of Hereditary in its themes of generational family trauma, which actually brings me enjoyment watching it; I think it's a really big step for Malaysian horror, but low-key the jump scares are throwing me off HAHA Melor and Manis are literal hotties likeeee...#needdat #wifedat

"Darah kita tak sama." I've been following the franchise through PHC and KKHC, and I'm just so in awe of their production, writing, characterisation and actors acting the hell out of their characters; it really hits home when Kahar's movie was released like THAT'S OOMF And with Kudrat 1968 being released with 4 episodes, I'm just further amazed by their world-building, as the setting was in the 60s—truly made me really immersed. The political themes here are also a nice addition, too. Their build-up is REALLY really good; I could NOT emphasise this enough—it's the kind of build-up that reels you in to know more, and that's a good thing! Although for the fifth episode (which was the movie), I'm a bit disappointed with how underwhelming the ending was. Like, it's good they wrapped it up pretty well, but I guess you could say the ending was too simple. The start and the middle part of the movie have a good build-up, but the ending is...incredibly plain...sorry...🥲 My expectations were really high, with how they portrayed Ghafar as if he had something up his sleeve, combined with the superb theories people have made, but the ending didn't have that same energy, and I'm just really sad... OH MY GOD I FEEL SO ICKY WITH HOW UNDER-UTILIZED GHAFAR AND ANY OTHER CHARACTERS WERE IN THE MOVIE. You have no idea how his character drives me crazy every night, just wanting to know more about his character and wishing HE was the ultimate plot twist ughhh 😢😢😢 I'd still take my Ghafuda crumbs...... And, thus, my review ends here. <3 Kudrat 1968 (EP 1-4): 5/5 Kudrat 1968 (Movie): 3/1'2
