Iron Lung
To come out of nowhere and create a movie so enjoyable (especially when it features a singular man in a singular room) is incredible. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
I went into this movie not yet having fully watched his gameplays, so I can’t speak on how accurate it is to the games, though I assume that the film is quite an impressively close adaptation of the game. The attention to detail (subtle scars, bruises, lights being on and off) do a wonderful job of showing and not telling. I did like well-made the costumes were, but they looked a little more like cosplays.
I also like how well they were able to show internal conflict. I believe that other aspects of the film are more tell-not-show such as the dialogue, which is a critique that I have, but Markiplier most certainly succeeded in showing that internal struggle and how to motivated him as a character and progresses the storyline.
One critique that I do have is that we don’t see more of Simon’s backstory. Though open to interpretation, I believe that it would have made his internal struggle and ultimate fate hit harder emotionally.
The beginning of the movie is terrifying. I loved it. I also love how we are wherever Markiplier is- he’s trapped, we’re trapped. I felt like he could have looked a little more scared, though. Maybe morning pain.
Love how the ending leaves us.
