What a trip, man. If I had comprehended this better, I'd call it a masterpiece. This is one you'd better be locked in for.
What on the surface appears to be just another mystery thriller (with phenomenal cinematography, acting, and score) hides a mind-bending arc that pits capacity for evil against desire for good. Hats off to Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Koji Yakusho.
