This feels original and it sits apart from everything being released these days. The opening pulls you in like a meet-cute rom-com. A perfect couple, a wedding coming up, the kind of setup that makes you feel warm before you remember that something has to go wrong. It sets the tone without you even noticing it's doing that. Then there's a scene, my favorite in the film, where a room full of people goes from laughing to holding its breath, and you feel the exact moment it shifts. The director doesn't tell you how to feel. The real antagonist isn't a secret or a past — it's what fear does to a good person when they let it grow. Charlie loves Emma. I believe that completely. But love and fixation can live in the same person at the same time, and this film is brave enough to sit with that discomfort rather than resolve it cleanly. The ending was not what I expected but it was good. It's a mix of moral, ethical, and psychological questions that all hit the right spot. The soundtrack gives that A24 vibe throughout, and their production quality is never down — especially the shots. One beautiful piece of craft. I wouldn't watch it again though. God, it was stressful. Also, f*** Rachel.
