Look Back
In my senior year of high school, I created a short film with a friend who had experience in video production, whereas I had none. Needless to say, he taught me how to express myself and create the media that I wanted to make. He was someone who pushed me (along with many others) to do what you love and create what you love. About a year later, after I moved to college, we struggled to find the time to create something new, but that idea was always in the back of my mind. I would send him script ideas and work on scripts with the mindset that he could help me turn my vision into reality.
Before we were able to create another short film, he found himself in a fatal car crash. Since then it has felt nearly impossible to create something new. Immediately my question was why. Why take someone with so much potential? Why take the one person I need to create the art that I want to create? Why take the person who pushed me to go further?
In a way, these questions are for me to answer.
Look Back conveniently ends after Fujino finds out Kyomoto has passed. Fujino no longer has any clear answers. What she does with this life-altering event is up to her. Is she going to take Kymoto's legacy and run with it or will she burn out due to the loss of her closest companion? We don't have the answer, only Fujino, and this is the same for anybody. It's the hard part, but art has the wonderful ability to allow for self-expression. Life may keep moving, but take what you have learned and experienced and run with it. They would have wanted you to.
