absolutely stunning. From the moment agnes is introduced and cradled into the forest’s spine, Zhao beautifully creates a story of motherly love and attention and making it into something so beautifully devastating. She understood a mothers affection and ability to become subdued by grief. To tell hamnet’s tragedy not only by his death but with his will to be valient not only his life but the stories his father creates. The feeling this film invokes lingers for awhile as if you’ve felt this grief. Beautiful movie 💔
