I absolutely love the atmosphere and soundtrack. Shoutout to that time I fucked up Kevin’s YouTube algorithm by only playing Blade Runner ambient music. Not even a few minutes in and Kaity joked, “Harrison Ford is a replicant haha” and I had to turn to them like Bryan Cranston in that one Malcolm in the Middle GIF.

Bishop, you ain’t half bad! This movie is testosterone filled- big guns, tan biceps, chewing on cigars, I was waiting for someone to shotgun a beer. I think the first one being a suspenseful, sci-fi horror was just more interesting to me than an action movie. That being said! As soon as them aliens showed up, the movie cranked it up. And surely you’d think the antagonist plot isn’t just “ultimate life form needs to be preserved and studied” like the last one. Right? Right?? Happy Alien Day, everybody! Be sure to leave out milk and cookies! That is… milk, right?

Ignoring the heavy fog of plot holes that hovers over this movie, specifically when it comes to the limitations of the Barbie’s and Ken’s self awareness. Had this movie been made 10-20 years prior, I don’t think it would’ve worked. A “live action Barbie movie” would’ve fallen under the same slew of movie adaptations of childhood properties. But it was made by a great director and writers in a more mature society who can integrate these themes and messages into the film without it feeling like you’re being talked down to or even focusing on a feminist message to one specific gender. It’s a smart movie but also a really fun and colorful movie! And I think it’s cultural impact has made it’s place in cinema history. And yes, I do love a good *Scott Pilgrim* reference, THERE I SAID IT. I SAID THE THING.

Watched this after the episode, “Raging Bender”, from Futurama. I understand shows and shorts for kids are fast paced these days but my god man, slow down. Which is a wild criticism for a show about cars, but stick with me.
