The Lighthouse
I loved the mythological aspects of The Lighthouse and thought it was super cool how it played off of Prometheus. I honestly have no idea what exactly what happened in this movie, but theorizing about this movie is one reason I enjoyed it so much. We’re they both 2 parts of one man? Did one man recollect and the other was mad? Were they both mad? The lighthouse really shone in the environment and cinematography. The camera angles especially of Robert Patterson really set the mood of a troubled soul, and the wet and stormy light house with no other beings close really set in the cabin fever. I also loved it being in black and white. It helped set the time it took place and it also just made it more visually unique to recent releases. Also Dafoe and Patterson both killed it. This film was pretty much a 2 hour narrative between these two characters and they both did an exceptional job.
I could see how some of the dislike for this movie may have generated, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and was caught trying to figure it out the whole way.
