The Thing
I had a stupid hope that this movie was anything else than an money grab, this movie didnt understand what made the John carpenter version so good and i wanted to go over my issues with this version
1.the characters are simply stupid, the thing about 82 version is that the characters made the decisions i would made or i wish i would made, here we see Kate go with lars one on one knowing he might be the thing and mind you it was after she survived by pure luck and lazy writing an diffrent 1v1 altercation, and the alien it choses to reveal itself at the worst times in the worst way possible
2.the cgi, it obliviously was bad but also with the character of the thing you have so many ways of making him attack, his body act etc but here they didnt do anything orginal with it
3.what i loved about the orginal the thing was that we saw there great filmmaking and use of music to build tension, here we dont see any of it the movie relies heavily on shock value and in the process it sacrifices the smart alien or the smart crew, i feel like anyone without any experience could have watched the thing(1982) and make this movie
as a summary, the good things about this movie are completly replicated from the orginal but done way worse and the bad things are any orginal thought we see here which shows how incompetent the writer or the director of it was, i also wanted to mention how it takes place at the same time as the thing from 1982 but it doesnt feel this way, it felt like the movie crew here forgot it completly
