Wanted to feel even more this lovely Wednesday night, and accidentally wrote 15 pages of notes. True filmmaking at this finest.

The first half was orchestrated phenomenally. Rémi’s and Léo’s friendship is shown in such a beautiful way, especially the biking and sleeping shots. I kept saying out loud how special and physical their bond is. Watching the second half, I felt Léo completely, his reactions, his responses, the way he navigates life. I think he’s such a well-crafted character. And wow, what an accomplishment this is for the two main leads. This was their first acting roles?????? I am now wrecked and destroyed completely.

Wagner!!!! Moura!!!!! This concludes my Oscar Best Pictures run. What a lovely way to end my journey, as I really enjoyed this movie. I found myself so easily immersed into Recife, and within the Brazilian culture. Such beautifully done cinematography, and what an excellent form of storytelling! Also, Gabriel Leone…is a stunning man.
