Heat
On my third watch of this masterpiece, what really jumps out at me is Natalie Portman’s character. The way she is sidelined by Vincent, her cries for help being met with silence, highlighting just how destructive a path for perfection can be. And yet when she attempts suicide, it is his place she goes to. The unspoken love she has for him shines through, and the upsides of his dedication are shown as he springs into action, working to save her life faster than anyone else could. This dichotomy of the people that are hurt by the dedication to perfection vs the skills that are gained from it are at the heart of Heat, and is just one of the many reasons this is one of the greatest films of all time
