“with all this…whats gonna become of me? how am i going to live?” bro. im absolutely floored. ts was soooo peak. its like the best aspects from david lynch’s, kiyoshi kurosawa’s, and takeshi kitano’s filmmaking combined to make this movie. un fucking real. theres something about 2000s japanese existential cinema that just hits different every single time for me. movies like these will never get old, its the slow, deep, patient, and methodical filmmaking that satiates this primordial cinematic hunger at the base of my primitive and stunted brainstem. this was such a powerful and deep viewing experience, the scene of murata venting to nobuko made my spine crawl, the visceral and guttural weeping paired with the tremendous script creates such an emotionally tense atmosphere, its really unbelievably fantastic. what a film man, what a film.
