Warfare
completely speechless when the credits rolled. tension did not let up for one second once the second act began. the sounds of sam screaming was ungodly. sound design was the best i’ve heard from any war film i can think of atm. the practical effects were so realistic i found myself wincing like i just did in ‘bring her back’. soldiers not knowing what to do in the chaos feels relatable to how someone would actually react, and the soldiers movements and tactics have this perfect ‘this is what i learned but what the actual fuck is going on’ element idk how to put it but theres an obvious discrepancy between soldiers who have definitely seen combat already and those who have not as much/at all. the reason i watch war movies is to immerse myself in these gruesome realities, and i have never closer to understanding what these people go through than in this movie. the choice to film it in real time is my favorite thing about this movie, alongside joseph quinn’s performance. it wasn’t award winning, but i would 100% react just like that if my legs got blown off.
