it is such a great movie and it perfectly represents the stereotype culture and standard, especially in asia, for women.
the fact that she outdid all men in that army and was still criticized and was considered unworthy of recognition all because she was a woman is hella diabolical.
“look at me, i will never pass for a perfect wife, or a perfect daughter”
that honestly resonates with my whole existence— of what i think about myself growing up. i was and will always be terrified of letting my parents down.
“now i see that if i were truly to be myself i would break my family’s heart” : )
+ mulan is for the girls who were feminists before even knowing what it meant.
