Bugonia

Well that took a strange turn. An intriguing and captivating screenplay exploring ever present themes in today’s society such as capitalism and environmentalism. A harsh critique of corporations and the effect of capitalism on the lower classes who are perceived as weak by those above them. Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone go head to head throughout the entire film, continually out acting each other, both putting in monstrous performances. Plemons was completely robbed of an Oscar nomination and maybe even a win. The score was heart pounding and dramatic and was one of the most understated of last year. Brilliant direction from Lanthimos and a weird, weird turn.
