I love movies and I’m so indecisive that my top 4 probably isn’t my current top 4.

Performances were amazing, Plemons is always great but he put on a show here. The “twist” isn’t really a twist at all, you go into the beginning of the movie sort of expecting her to really be an alien, but the most unexpected part of the movie was how many times I switched back and forth from “Teddy is crazy” to “She’s actually an alien”. It keeps switching until you just don’t know what to think. Then when the reveal happens you just sort of accept it, because at that point it’s not woke groundbreaking revelation, it’s just the truth 🤷♂️.

Exceeded my expectations! Just like a solid Star Wars movie, watching Mando and Grogu is always fun. My favorite parts were: 1) The music, it was so phenomenal 2) The start of the movie was great, and it remained strong for the first hour 3) I thought it looked great visually, not really any bad CGI that I noticed personally. Cameos were fun, it was a very funny movie, Rotta was so ridiculous, and Embo has so much fucking aura. The end *DRAGGED *like my god, the whole last 45 minutes was tanking my opinion. Nothing egregiously bad, but so much of it was not needed, and I thought it was about to end like 4 times.

A creative and genuinely frightening premise. Some cool action set pieces. A couple well crafted scares. All bogged down by stupid characters, bad writing, meh acting, and so many cheap loud noise jumpscares. It gets points for the things I’ve mentioned above, but man was this a big pile of dogshit. This should have been released on Netflix in 2014. The audio was also fucked in my theater and the girl next to me spilled ranch everywhere.

This is proof, along with Obsession that horror is very much a thriving genre. Manages to be a pretty compelling murder mystery but also a folklore adjacent, paranormal horror. And when it gets freaky, it REALLY gets freaky. Scares were done super well and the movie looked amazing at all times. Love having this weird witch character as one of the main threats, but she’s very obviously not the villain of the story. After all, it’s a murder mystery, that just so happens to take place in a haunted hotel room. The emotional moments were also really great, with multiple hard hitting emotional payoffs at the end, fantastic!
