I’ve been shitting on this film for ages because of how overrated it is but Jesus Christ it’s just undeniable. I love the acting, the story, the characters, the music especially - even the execution of the plot twist was perfect, everything is just so well done.

I definitely expected this film to be better, however it was still really good. That said, the ending duel was brilliant it’s just a shame it took so long to get there. It’s not that any of the scenes were unnecessary, I feel as if the length of some of the scenes was unnecessary - it definitely could’ve had a quicker pace to it and a shorter length and been just as good, if not better. Aside from that, the film was visually stunning, the colours were beautiful and Kubrick did a great job at making it feel like the 1800s and getting the audience into that vibe with the music and the outfits. I think this film greatly portrayed Lyndon’s life and everything that changed and what he went through. I’m really stuck between rating it 4 or 4 and a half but I suppose we’ll see how my mind changes

Similar to other Scorsese films, such as The King of Comedy or Taxi Driver, nothing much actually happens, however those films had me a lot more hooked than this one and I don’t really know why. One thing that really stuck out to me though was the acting which was especially great from Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Jake’s life really was devastating.

Fun movie, it got a few laughs out of me. The dialogue was pretty cringe at certain times but apart from that it was good. I liked when they compared the film to real life in the credits
