Prisoners
knew this was gonna be a five star movie from the first ten minutes BUT HOLY SHITTTT i love movies and i fucking love denis villenueve if i was a little braver this would be in my four favorites. i love when i get jumpscared by a paul dano feature and all the performances are incredible and i think it’s amazing writing. this is the exact essence of a movie ive been wanting to watch and looking for since i saw seven for the first time and i finally found it!! shame on you letterboxd for not making me watch this earlier! it’s a perfect level of horror(?) where it evokes the same can’t-look reaction that i have to horror movies. the range of emotion this movie makes you feel is masterful. wasn’t too surprised by the “plot twist” so i kept kinda expecting for something else to go down (partly bc there weren’t many characters so there wasn’t anyone else it could be partly bc ive seen too much criminal minds) but everything connected so nicely i loved it even tho the ending was a little disappointing. i was breathless during the car scene at the end tho omg!!! maybe one day this will be an actual review but i lovedddd this of course this is a criterion movie and why is these scene i want to make the backdrop not available :(
