Sing Sing

Colman Domingo is what happens when Willam Dafeo and Morgan Freeman have a baby. He sounds so much like them I can't wrap my head around it. This movie spoke to me. I love to perform, it's like an escape for me. No matter how down I am feeling, the 2 hour rehearsal every week is something so liberating I cannot describe it. There is truly nothing more cathartic than theatre and this film truly expresses that beauty. I wanted to be their with the prisoners with their huge smiles having so much fun, I almost cried out of pure joy. The performances by Domingo and Clarence especially our absolutely outstanding but the entire cast bring so much vulnerability and honesty to their characters that makes them feel so real. The soundtrack is amazing, the cinematography is too. It's just such a feel good movie that can also make you feel so sad, but that is how strong theatre can transform you, and Sing Sing truly is an amazing piece of art.
