It’s good but overhyped ngl

Boyhood is a filmmaking achievement in itself. The way the cast holds so much chemistry after returning from breaks for 12 years straight is incredible. Ethan Hawke as usual is sublime, If I didn’t know who Ethan Hawke was I honestly might have thought those were his kids, He’s just so charismatic and so good at making every conversation feel so real. Richard Linklater as well, he does what he is so good at, Linklater puts a simple story that doesn’t need to be big and he makes it feel so real and easy to follow through dialogue alone. This movie means even more to me on a personal level as well. Boyhood felt uncomfortably familiar, It shared childhood trauma I try to forget and mixed it with childhood memories clouded in my mind. I truly felt so many parts of this movie like it was speaking to me. The step-parents in this film in particular is a tough subject, they can either be the biggest pieces of shit to ever be in your life or be a huge reason you are who you are. Without too much time around one of your parents, you really look at your step-parents to fill a big role and can often disappoint you, almost stripping trust from parental figures in general. My father and I share a similar relationship to the one in the movie. I love him a lot, but he also doesn’t insert himself into my life very much, making my relationship with him awkward and unsure. Boyhood just felt so close to home in a mixed way.

I really like the film's artistic aspects. But for a romance, there is little to no tension between the two leads.

Ready or Not: Here I Come takes everything from the first and just amplifies it by 10. This movie is funnier, it’s more brutal, and the hunters/seekers are so much better. They really said fuck it let’s go all out and it works. The only bad thing I can say about this movie that I didn’t like is I am not a fan of Kathryn Newtons character nor acting, This could’ve been really special if they just stuck with Samara Weaving only. Really fun time overall tho.
