(this will probably be my only in depth review on letterboxd because i fucking love this movie)
1. mumbai somehow feels like the perfect city to shoot this film in. i can’t explain why but that is what i think. a crime thriller in a city as crowded as mumbai feels just to real. mumbai’s night life feels great, this may also be due to my recent trip to mumbai. listening to muskaanein jhooti hai on marine drive felt great.
2. muskaanein jhooti hai - this songs feels just too perfect as the opening of the movie. showing the entire landscape of mumbai through this song. showing us people and places where the movie will take place and when the song ends then baam, the incident that drives the entire movie.
3. i’m not a person who knows how an actor/actress is acting in a movie but aamir khan, rani mukherjee, kareena kapoor and nawazuddin siddiqui are one of the best cast you can gather for this movie. they all acted their ass off along with all the other actors. (didn’t remember rajkumar rao being in this)
4. the story is honestly my favourite part of the movie. although there are far better crime thrillers out there but there are only a few good ones that come out of bollywood and this is one of them. maybe it wouldn’t have blown me away this much if i’d seen it recently but kid me was completely blown away by the plot twist at the end so yeah it holds a special place in my heart.
5. the inner turmoil in aamir due to the death of his son was nicely shown. the lightsaber scene for me shows how their life was before karan died (everything bright) but when he dies it’s just aamir lonely with the same lightsaber waving it in the darkness.
6. love the movie.
(lowkey wanna see a david fincher version of this movie)
