***obsessed** *HEAVILY over inde navarette in here, and everything else. thank you to everyone involved for making such a huge banger of a film hi everyone‼️ hope you like my new layout, it’s so sad i can’t keep it like this forever, it’s such an aesthetic. no i have not watched it four times already, it’s just for the layout, but this review is the second time ive watched it, literally the next day. after watching it yesterday and seeing how much it affected me, i didn’t even know if it was worth a rewatch, not because it’s bad of course, but seriously, this shit messed me up, even this time around. this time, i saw it with my amazing dad, he knew nothing other than i showed him my review from yesterday, so i practically introduced it to him. he asked if i wanted to see it with him to which i said of course i would love to, and i am so proud to say that he loved it. i don’t know all of his thoughts, but i told him he needs to write a letterboxd review about all of his feelings, so hopefully he does that, he doesn’t really write reviews. as someone who loved this movie, seeing his reactions were absolutely priceless and the first thing he said to me when i asked what he thought was “**straszny**” which means scary in polish. seriously, i haven’t seen him this freaked out by a movie in so long and it makes me so happy. we could hardly stop talking about it the whole car ride back, i had to drive cause he said he felt like he was gonna puke, me too dad, me too. we share a lot of the same compliments towards the movie, he immediately compared it to goosebumps because that shit was my favorite growing up, and of course he praised the amazing inde navarette, calling her “**such a scary woman**” but also very empathetic for her. he couldn’t stop talking about how badly he fumbled, saying “**it was like he never loved her at all**” and how he (**bear**) could've made it work because he did in-fact wish for it. i felt like maybe he missed the point of the movie, but like at the same time, yes, clock his tea, it was still very sweet to see him get so sentimental. but yeah, those were his thoughts, here’s more of mine. i can’t believe it still hit me so hard again, seriously, looking at it now, the trailers, though amazing, seem so misleading, they still don’t capture the creepiness of this movie. i think a huge part of that, which i don’t see enough people talking about, is the absolutely amazing sound design. horror is known for having the best and this movie was even more proof, i don’t even know how to explain it, but it starts off all nice and nostalgic almost, it’s like a gen z’ers dream. then it only sinks into madness, and there’s some shit during those final ten minutes that will truly keep me marveling about it, it’s like the movie starts to yell with nikki and become just as fierce as her. every action feels so much deeper and unsettling, it feels like you’re connecting to whatever entity is inside of nikki, it craves every chance she gets to show her devotion and it gets so under your skin, like it cuts your flesh and climbs inside, and it will stay inside of me tonight… i think it’s fair to say that my relationship with this movie is just like nikki’s, i truly don’t think it will ever leave my mind, it’s possessed me and i want every moment of it. okay bye

***i’m*** so fucking out of it i can’t even write my review yall are gonna have to wait and come back all you need to know is that i’ve just watched the greatest fucing movie of all time **edit from when i finally came to:** i tried to dumb down my hopes thinking this will probably just be another longlegs/weapons that people will eventually get over, but i mean i absolutely loved both of those movies… let me tell you, the bar was through the roof, jumped it by a mile. the moment he snaps his one wish willow, you can feel the shift as if we had just been hypnotized as well, the following hour and a half is a dizzying roller coaster into the deepest layers of hell. i cannot explain enough the amount of stress i had watching this movie, i said people were gonna be so annoyed with me after watching this movie, but i know my entire theater was annoyed of me DURING the movie. i swear even watching it with a fair crowd in a dolby cinema wasn’t enough to sound out my screams of pure shock and terror. this movie holds back on absolutely nothing, it will not hold your hand and tell you things will be okay, trust that it will only get worse… some obvious highlights, we’ve all been talking about inde navarette… she is a fucking super star, i wish to give her every award in the fucking world. a fairly normal girl who is put under an unfair spell, you can feel the unnaturalness of this mysterious new presence, even in the more normal moments, her character gives codependency a whole new meaning. every second she’s on screen makes you all the more uncomfortable, even otherwise, her presence is always felt. another performance i would love to highlight is that of micheal johnston because together, they’re the ultimate power couple. watching an incel loser, taking over a girls life and get his life ruined by his irrational decision making, was still the absolute worst, curry barker knows how to make me feel horrible. he doesn’t think about anyone but himself and his image and you can feel his regret settling in right after that first night, but he still can’t help but be pulled into his impossible fantasy and once he realizes what he’s doing is wrong, things are too far gone, he had become a full bag of shit. other honorable mentions, i loved the soundtrack with its lovey dovey chords and frightening screech’s, i loved the way it was shot, shadows play an essential role in this movie and its shortened aspect ratio makes things more personal and claustrophobic, had to keep backing into my seat at every moment. i love the way it drags it’s simplicity into some thing far more sinister and creates a tale of every persons worst nightmare, a man. nikki wouldn’t even want to choose the man or the bear after this, she’ll just say pull the trigger. really though i can’t think of anything i disliked from the top of my head, i like the mystery surrounding it. this is the first horror movie that is actually about to keep me up at night, not just because of its gnarly source material, but because of it was absolutely amazing… okay bye
