Don't Look NowEl 8.9· July 3, 2025Followthat actually had me so scared I didn’t wanna watch it with all the lights off hahahaha eeek like there’s just something abt the like, gritty realness of random circumstance entangling a perfect victim into a doomed plot that really frightens me. this poor man is absolutely riddled with guilt and grief over his daughter… but not only that he knows how much this ruined his wife’s wellbeing in addition to his own. And imagine being in a foreign labyrinth with the echoing sounds of murder(?) like… HELL NO!!!!! Had me scared and I’m just sat here on my sofa. It might be silly to some but this idea of having a “gift”—or really, a curse— doesn’t seem out of bounds to me. I do think that we as humans see patterns and sometimes those patterns mean something. If I have a dream and that dream ensues, does that make me psychic? Or does that make me intuitive? neurotic? paranoid? who knows. But it happens. I do think sometimes we get a sign and there’s something inside us, whether it present itself as a vision, a comically unlikely and poetic circumstance, or just a gut feeling. Those signs point to something important; namely: this is completely wrong or this is exactly where I’m meant to be. Unfortunately for this man, he had all the signs but not the right tools to read them. Like a worker abroad who haphazardly uses a language they are picking up along the way, a man can completely miscommunicate and misread all the signs that point to danger. The ending made me very sad, but honestly I loved this movie!CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
