WandaVision
Spoilers for both Wandavision and Multiverse of Madness
Such a beautiful and unique concept that just turned awful in its final stride. The first two episodes really made me think Marvel was going to try something extremely different to anything I’d seen before. The mystery looming over our heads just made the show incredibly intriguing and I just wanted to keep watching. I continued to really like the show throughout all of the series, except for the finale.
Yes, while the mystery of what was happening in the small town that was the perfect representation of the American dream started to be revealed king of quickly, I think it was only appropriate considering that the show doesn’t have very many episodes. Every episode had a good concept and represented the shows from the episode’s decade in a fun and entertaining way while still keeping that dark mood in the background. Even the first part of the finale was pretty decent (a bit more formulaic but still worth it). The only other highlight of the show for me must’ve been the Scarlet Witch outfit they made for Wanda. The final fight scene was honestly not as bad as many people say it was and I really like that Wanda came to her senses and released all the innocent people she had captured under her curse.
While I understand how horrible it must’ve been for her character to let go of the family she so desperately wanted, I hate how the show wants us to feel like she did nothing wrong. They literally have one of the characters (who’s incredibly boring and will most likely be even more boring in the new captain marvel movie) say “They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them” to Wanda when she does the bare minimum and stops keeping an entire town captive. Wanda had literally not sacrificed anything. Everything she created was a lie, her family didn’t really exist and the town is actually incredibly run down and far past it’s days of glory. While the town looked like it’d been through hell, it doesn’t excuse the fact that Wanda took control of the minds of everyone in a town to play her sick game.
And let’s not forget that Wanda actually ended up gaining more for herself when she became basically the most powerful being in the MCU in the blink of an eye. All she had to do was defeat one witch (honestly she was pretty fun but I resent her for killing a dog). Then, she had a book from probably Satan himself, with all the dark spells someone who is grieving the loss of the love of her life and their family should probably never have, right at her disposal (very important for Multiverse of Madness).
It would’ve been such a good ending if Wanda had just been accepted as a villain. But instead, we get a vague description of her vague powers that have become stronger because of a mysterious book we’re probably never going to learn anything about (I thought this would have been talked about it multiverse of madness but no). I just hate it so much that after everything, Marvel tried to paint Wanda as innocent, while the people she has severely traumatized looked at her in horror (THEN WE GO INTO MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS WITH HER NOT HEING INNOCENT ANYMORE SO IT WAS LIKE THOSE FINAL CRINGEY LINES WERE FOR NOTHING AND THE SHOW COULD HAVE HAD A G O O D ENDING).
I also completely forgot to talk about S.W.O.R.D. aka the version of S.H.I.E.L.D we’re never going to here from again that did not do it’s job and just camped outside Wanda’s cursed territory, waiting for something to happen. They’re just that boring. And the guy in charge is painted as this awful man who just wants to kill Wanda. In reality, I think he was the only one being logical. What else are you supposed to do if an entire town is being held hostage? Just walk away? I assume that they would attempt to do everything in their power to keep the people hostage from getting killed or from a being with incredible powers from gaining more powers and possibly taking over the entire world. Also wouldn’t what Wanda did basically be an “Avengers level threat”? Wouldn’t the news of dozens of people being captured by someone whose powers come from a literal infinity stone make its way to them?
Anyways, everything was nice before the second half of the finale, then it all just turned annoying and repetitive.
#w h y#the dog was cute#is anyone ever going to eleborate on any of the details that they just threw in and forgot about?#wtf monica
