happy first watch of the year! i love sofia coppola and this is such a beautiful film but because the two lead characters are who they are i could not take them seriously.
1 January

not as terrible as i thought it was going to be. the real transphobia is jamie lee curtis having my deadname
1 January
as an avid creepypasta enjoyer growing up, i really enjoyed this. could also see a lot of similarities to We're All Going to the World's Fair
1 January
recommend to me by my dad. never knew about Sinéad other than her infamous SNL performance. this girl is a legend
2 January
first watch of 2024 i didn't really like. only watched for steven yeun. shivers/rec/28 days later combined but somehow the worst of all of them
4 January
rewatch
ICONIC. AMAZING SOUNDTRACK. VERY FUN TIME. I LOVE.
5 January
hung out with summer & talked a lot about dogs so thought this would be fun. reminded me a lot of the style of drop dead gorgeous.
6 January
aesthetically gorgeous. glad they're not actually brother and sister or else this would've went downhill fast
7 January

i hate the manic pixie dream girl trope so obviously this was everything to me. ending pissed me off a bit but i truly really loved this
7 January

this actually is gay culture. i don't usually go for straight forward comedies but this was everything and i laughed so much. and ohmygod i am definitely naming my future rats 'backpack' and 'whisper'.
7 January
paul dano plays a little loser freak again. thought this was gonna be weirder than it was. still got a chuckle out of me tho
8 January
not fun day at work today. thank you romcoms for saving me.
9 January
spike lee is fucking awesome this is great. reminded me a lot of go fish but that could just be bc it's a modern day romance in black & white
10 January
EVERYONE LOOK OUT, THEY'RE USING TOOLS! i didn't particularly like this but it's interesting to see where Romero takes zombies as the years go on
11 January
rewatch
i got so giddy when i saw the title card in theaters!!! it's not as great as i remember but it is a fun time and fucking absurd! so glad i got to share it with bee <3
12 January
i wanted to like this a lot more than i did. don't get me wrong though it was still very good! love california dreamin on repeat
13 January
this came out of nowhere and i had no idea what it was about but i had a lot of fun with this!! the art was probably my favorite part. ALSO OMG CHIDI
14 January
really fucking beautiful. this is a type of subject matter i think about a lot, coming back to an old home you have a claim to in an environment that is rapidly changing around it. along with amazing cinematography and a storyline that really pulled me in, I'm glad i watched this
14 January
i hated it and then it surprised me a bit and i liked it. then i got bored. overall pretty solid
14 January
not my favorite. nothing happens and not in the fun linklater way. maybe i need to watch it again and pay closer attention but this just didn't hit for me
15 January
background movie for sure but still fun. never thought i'd get so much gender envy from nick cage. also love the soundtrack
19 January
oh to be a monstrosity from a 50s sci-fi horror
20 January
such pretty colors. such lovely gooey gelatinous creatures.
20 January
this is what goes through my brain when my dad, who is also obsessed with watching movies, tells me some comedy on netflix is the greatest thing he's ever seen
21 January
i want them to kiss ssooo bad. also it's that guy from the tiktoks! and he can actually act!
26 January
he's really goin for it huh. and don't worry babe, i get agitated without my meds too
27 January
really amazing and well told documentary. i think we are at the asexual cannibalistic rat point of society
28 January

such a well rounded movie!!!! from the costumes, set design, script, score, colors, camera work, everything was just so fucking cool!! as an avid frankenstein enjoyer i am loving this new wave of frankenmovies coming out this year. and omg that cunty lab coat with the sleeves? AND THAT DANCE SCENE??? so fucking good
29 January

-----

it came out on hulu so you know i had to rewatch. bella is sooooo me it's wild. makes sense i had that nightmare the night after i saw this. excited to see it sweep at the oscar's on sunday!!!

08 March

why did they try and make this a musical that felt so out of place. also why tf did i cry when adam sandler was talking about the importance of finding someone to talk to literally fuck you
30 January
i cried when i saw the rainbow flag at the finish line. lesbians are so powerful
30 January
as bee and i have discussed at length, Cheryl Dunye is truly such an amazing director
31 January
shoutout Linde for understanding my love for christian slater. did not pay a lick of attention and have no idea what this was about but slater looked good as did patricia who was amazing
31 January
wanted to watch bc i feel like I'm in a very in-between place right now with employment. she is me in another life but i am so glad i am me. shout out steve buscemi.
01 February

cursed to be born in the year 2000 yet destined to be in a lesbian relationship as a plaything for royalty in whatever time period this is
02 February

first horror movie of 2024 and it is not good. another generic blumhouse movie that they continue to shit out. UNINSPIRED!
02 February
i get why my mom was so into hair metal growing up. i love that hair so much. a silly watch w val :)
03 February
really beautifully shot and gorgeous to look at through all its mundanity. really wanted to be more invested in this story but i just couldn't settle into it
04 February
not a fan of it being a musical. wonka was very poorly casted. meh
04 February
another in a long list of movies that would've been better if they were lesbians. there's definitely more going on there. I'm obsessed with amanda
05 February
all three stories made me mad for different reasons. 1) HOW DARE YOU think just because you are a blood relative you have a claim on the remnants of her life. 2) why are you being butch-phobic? 3) ellen
06 February
a really funny satire and all around great movie. gonna be honest tho i don't see it winning best picture.
10 February
took me awhile to really follow where this was going. lindsay lohan plays twins again!
10 February
felt fairly generic and i wish the characters were more developed. but for how stupid this sounds like it would be, it's not that bad.
10 February
trying to be festive for today. put on as kind of a throw away but it was pretty cute
11 February
lots of really great names in this!! also it's crazy to live through this shit and not think much of it but then watch something like this and be like oh damn,, that actually was kinda significant huh
11 February
I LOVE QUEER CINEMA!!! a bit slow starting off but by the end i was 100% in it. love the waiting room scene while she's giving birth. and the very 1999 soundtrack is the cherry on top
12 February
I'm so conflicted because i hated this but also loved it?? i think it does a really good job at analyzing how abled people's proximity to disability literally shape and shatter their view of the world, and how rather than dealing with that they demonize and avoid disabled people all together. but there were some choice bits that could've been done better. also christina ricci as a blonde? amazing
13 February
very meh and it was hard to follow the plot because all these girls look the exact same. but omg the hot guy from bones is here!!
13 February

rewatch

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY I AM CURRENTLY CRYING!! no movie needs to be 3hrs long but Titanic does. I love this movie so much
14 February

so I'm definitely going to have to rewatch to actually understand anything going on plot wise. but that aside, I really enjoyed this! visually and aesthetically stunning 2 meee. i love weird queer films
15 February
really beautiful and insightful look into these men's lives!! i love trans people <3
15 February

that hurt. thought i could make it through without crying but it got me. i have a lot to say about grief here but I won't get into it
16 February

-----

watched with family & told mom beforehand that i cried during it and she said 'during the iron claw???' so confused and guess who was crying so much by the end!!

09 March

love creepy weirdo found footage to the point of triggering me. thought it was gonna go further but this was fun regardless
17 February

saaaave me butch hockey player werewolf save me!! also wtf amandla why would you turn on her like that??
17 February

GOD DOESNT MAKE MISTAKES, HE MAKES BEAUTIFUL BUTCH WOMEN!! have had this on my watchlist for awhile and it was well worth the wait. love this dearly
20 February

rewatch
first time seeing this since i was a kid and i simultaneously remembered everything and nothing about it
21 February
val said this was his favorite romcom so i had to check it out!
25 February
paid more attention to my rats than the movie but this was pretty much what i expected it to be. lots of good faces in there!
26 February
rewatch
my boy vincent came home today!! bee told me to watch so i rewatched <3
29 February
AHHHHHHH I LOVE EVERY FRANKENSTEIN MOVIE SO MUCH AND HE IS ALWAYS FUCKING TRANS IM TELLING YOU IM GOING TO FUCKING SCREAM. this was so fun and stupid
01 March
i am not built to survive in a situation like this and i'd much rather be useful as a person being eaten. butch cuddled with me and watched part of it as well
02 March
stupid & dumb and only stupid, dumb, & funny/good if you are intoxicated, which i was. he talks about his love for prague rock like i do 5th wave emo
02 March
rewatch
as soon as the universal logo came on i lost my shit remembering how much i love this movie. such great character development of the monster i love him so much
02 March
i think space spider therapist paul dano could heal my trauma
also, me before going into the space cloud that holds the wisdom of the beginning of the universe: wait let me take a hit of my pen first
03 March
average early 80s horror with boring plot line. the monster design was pretty cool tho
04 March
rewatch
was (am) in a state of intense emotional distress and needed something comforting. cried like 3-4 times throughout, i fucking love tinker bell.
06 March
wanted to watch as soon as i heard it was the same director as blair witch. not scary at all but has some good silly goofy moments
07 March
i enjoyed this but i think i came in with the idea that i would enjoy it more based on what i heard about it. i still feel conflicted about what i think happened!!
09 March
i now understand why everyone is talking about this because FUCK that was so good. beautiful cinematography and the score is !!!! so good. teared up at multiple points. and unfortunately had to watch in 2 parts due to being out voted by my family
09 March

had put off watching for awhile bc i don't really care for cop-centric horror. enjoyed this more than i thought i would. it definitely had its moments even tho it was still fairly predictable
11 March

feel like i've seen this one before..........jk in all honesty though i liked the first one better, got its point across in a more impactful way. really loved the sfx and demon design!!
11 March
only watched bc it won best picture and i want to be cultured. that being said i didn't care for this and i knew that which is why i didn't watch it. i am just literally not invested in the characters at all whatsoever
12 March
this was a very well done and gorgeous documentary!!! i've said it before and i'll say it again, i love transsexuals
13 March
rewatch
have been meaning to show to val for awhile. don't think he liked it but i enjoyed my first rewatch very much<3
15 March
watched with val. thought it would be gayer. i love keanu. tyler is trans.
16 March
gay undertones for suuuresies. gene fowler jr gets it. also very sleepy and going to take a nap now
17 March
"fuck you lucky charms" - warwick was fantastic per usual & i love the makeup but this was a shit movie. also had no idea jennifer aniston was in this!
17 March
wish testosterone did that to me. love the coloration and usage of sound throughout. kristen stewart pls be my butch gf who injects me w testosterone
18 March
very tender and beautiful. love all the vibrant colors. however i will say i was told this was not a sad ending and yet I FEEL SAD
19 March
alice wu gets yearning down. obviously it would've been better if it was a little gayer and had a happier ending but i still really enjoyed this from start to finish. him chasing the train :,,,)
21 March
watched w/ val. so stupid but so funny and a good time. kills were fun. and i loved that it was in on the joke the whole time. 👍👍👍
22 March

'i was a teenage werewolf' but without the horror of teenage sexuality and all the mundanity of dinner parties. i liked the ghost sfx & monster makeup!
23 March

one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen but surprisingly not the worst. slim shady playing during the credits is so fitting
23 March

i wanna be apart of the kinky bisexual werewolf cult! also fun leading track
23 March

i saw a review for this with one star that said "Tubi.". alternatively i would say "Tubi!!!!". stupid, fun, and heartwarming. also let's play a game called guess how many times parker cried while watching due to being intoxicated
23 March

recommend to me by the hairdresser in west philly who charged me $250 for a haircut i hated. will forte ily
24 March
there's a scene where a shark fights an octopus with the monster later joining them and i would say that's a highlight. made me wanna watch godzilla
25 March
spent the first hour more focused on playing with the rats. tilda slays in everything that she's in. a bit too slow for me but visually v pretty
26 March
wanted something feel good but now i feel kinda sad. the mix of real costuming and animation is so fucking cool, i need more stuff like this.
28 March
watched the kristen stewart day drinking with seth meyers video which led to this. knew of lizzie borden through sam & colby but did not know she was gay???? id kill someone too if they slaughtered my pets & fed them to me + cut me off from my lover
29 March
recommended to me by linde (ily) and oh my god i love this. BUSCEMI, SANDLER, AND FRAISER ARE ALL SO HOT!!!
29 March
highly recommended to me by kate!! maybe i'm stupid but the plot was kinda hard to follow in the beginning but the whole thing was very gorgeous
30 March
okay. soooooo, i'm obsessed. need them to make out hardcore so badly and i think that is the only change i would make to an otherwise perfect movie. also kept thinking about how much Bee would love this the whole time
01 April
"what's a dyke bar, that's not nature?" - FUCK i love this so much. besties can and should fuck and get matching dildos.
02 April
rewatch
i think i loved it even more the second time. she's sooo me i love her. what a fucking freak.
05 April
i wanna be included in baseball season. watched while eating the chicken tikka masala bee helped me make<333
06 April
a very wtf movie and not in the best way but also not the worst. i think i liked it more by the end
06 April
this is really beautifully shot and incredibly intimate with a lot of subtleties you'll miss if you aren't paying attention. definitely liked this better than Showing Up. just wish it didn't make me feel so sleepy
07 April
having watched all of kevin's smith's prior movies up until this point this was really a treat to watch so many elements merge together. so stupid but i love it
07 April
have been putting off watching forever bc i thought it would be a lot more difficult to watch. don't get me wrong, sat through most of it looking like :( but i actually kinda loved this. felt very personal
07 April
original was better this kinda sucked but i still chuckled
08 April
watched with val! very fun animation! i always love watching how people depict dreams in film
08 April
very cute and sweet!! i enjoyed it. finally you fuckers weren't lying when you said it is actually gay with a happy ending
09 April
rewatch
i love this movie so dearly. i really think it altered something in me the first time i watched it. it just makes me so excited about movies
10 April
watched with val!! am i sure what was going on? not a clue! but it aesthetically looked cool and i loved the kills
10 April
rewatch
one of my favs!! val had never seen so it was fun to show to him :) i love this movie <33
10 April
why did they make them fuck other men when they should've been fucking each other? other than that- fantastic
11 April
this was a wild ride and i really loved it!! excited to see more from this director bc i very much enjoyed this style!!
13 April
rewatch
tried to play in the background as a means to fall asleep but i was too focused reciting the movie line by line
13 April

there really is so much to love about this. the lighting, score, tone, fx, everything about it just brings it to life that much more. so glad i got the communal experience of seeing this in theaters. i will be thinking about this A LOT
14 April

-----

the first time i watched this i was watching it in terms of analyzing the movie. today it came out on VOD and i let myself feel the emotions of the film alone in my bedroom. and holy shit did i cry. this is so fucking devastating. i cannot fathom anything more truly horrific. such an amazing movie and i'm so glad it's reaching so many people <3

14 June

incredibly bonkers. movies are so fucking fun i really hope they enjoyed making this
15 April
the use of sound was really well done and i understand why it won its oscar, but the movie makes its point pretty early on and then never elaborates further
16 April
THIS WAS SO JOYOUS AND BEAUTIFUL!!! i am so obsessed and i think this was made for me specifically. Miami looking directly into the camera and saying "i love pop culture" will live in my head forever
17 April
i love edith massey. what an incredible experience it must've been to smell this in theaters
17 April

visual story telling that is so fun and so well done!! fuck yeah!!!
20 April

---

rewatched with Bee and Val and it really solicited itself in the second viewing. this is so fucking well told on all fronts and I teared up it really got to me!! what a beautiful mind we get to be apart of through this!!

30 November

rewatch
in honor of 4/20 i decided to watch the movie that scared me most while high that i now get to giggle and watch joyously
20 April
shocked to say the least by the original uncensored version of let's get it started in here by the black eyed peas. also found out through this that neil patrick harris didn't come out until 2006. what a shame. happy 4/20/2024!!!!! i love this
20 April
i really enjoyed this!! really well done and has a lot to say about the times (does so in a much more impactful way than any American 1950s horror). glad this was my first real Godzilla watch!!
22 April
dev patel teaming up with a bunch of badass hijras against corrupt political forces? i'm in! (as much as i can be for an action movie)
23 April

okay soooo jekyll and hyde meet dr frankenstein? great to see karloff and lugosi together again nonetheless!!
23 April

have seen this genre of horror before and i think this was a fun take on it. val pointed AI out to me throughout
26 April

i love a butch, i love a stud, i love transmasc lesbians. i will 100% be watching the documentary catching up with them to see how many of them are on hormones
27 April

wish we got to see more of the little green dudes. ngl death by alcohol injection is pretty sick. also why keep calling the cops when they've repeatedly shown their incompetence???
27 April
this fucking rocks. idk what was in the water in the early 90s but the experimental shit i've seen from then is some of my absolute favorite
27 April
mothra my queen!! no one told me we got to see her transition!! this was lots of fun and i very much enjoyed. could do without the blackface tho.
28 April

GET FUCKED GODZILLA! this was so sick. haven't seen a godzilla movie since the original so it was cool to see the difference in design. looked very goofy and fun. and omg twinsies???? amazing!!
04 May

no one gets teen angst like the early 90s and i desperately need that energy in films today. this rocks; punk rock as you can get. love to see my bby james duval whenever i can.
04 May
yeah this sucked. didn't believe it when someone said there was a january 6th reference and i don't know why i didn't. boooo
05 May
this apparently didn't do well when it came out but i think it would do much better if rereleased now. hits the nail on the head with how news is shared in an age where we all have cameras in our pockets. well done!
05 May
epic simply for the fact i love the UFOs. the alien suits look like zingbot. i liked when they crashed into the capitol
06 May
hearing queer people, and specifically trans men, talk about the joys of aging is so very important to me. this is very very beautiful and i cried a lot.
07 May

this movie dares to ask the question, what if mark duplass was a pregnant republican man conceiving a child with his democrat right hand man. had no idea this is where we were gonna go with this and i'm still trying to figure out how i feel
11 May

okay abigail fucking slays. loved seeing her ballet moves during chase scenes. body pit reminds me of the one from phenomena. truly well done
11 May

really loved the stop motion monster!! very epic shit going down here
12 May
set design is all i hoped it would be (so good). i love joan cusack. sitting here wondering why we don't make weirdo movies about toy makers as much anymore
12 May
i dunno, got the urge to watch sonic. don't know much about the guy. this....didn't teach me much. and was bad. which is unfortunate bc i feel like it had potential to be so horrible it's good
15 May
if i was paying better attention the reveal of the killer probably would've been more shocking. vincent price amazing to see as always. and some very silly fake bats
16 May
bisexuality wins tonight boys. i loved this despite bee and val criticizing it the whole time. but i may also just be very horny....jury's out
17 May

from what i heard i was expecting more gross out humor (which this definitely still has) but this was actually kinda sad as well?? i really liked the bigfoot costume designs
18 May

the theme song sold me on it. the alien dudes were cool as fuck and i love me some silmey ooze. did not care for the lead 2 guys
18 May
my eyes hated the red tinted scenes on mars which is unfortunate bc that's where all the action takes place. a decent 50s b-rated sci-fi movie nonetheless! though i would recommend more goo
19 May
i thought i'd be more into this bc i love internet/social media horror, but this just really sucked. never trust a platinum blonde man.
19 May
was the name of their planet really that important it had to be in the title? the floating brains were cool but that's where it ends
19 May
gonna be honest i thought this would take place more on the spaceship/in space as the main plot and i was very bored when it wasn't
20 May

recommended to me by aunt tricia after she found out my rat was named after christian slater. my man is blonde, has a dangly earring, and skateboards so needless to say i was content. disinterested in the plot but there was a 7/11 mention so ill take it
26 May

happy memorial day. issues with apoliticism aside (though it really is a glaring issue), what i was really focused on was how well it depicts the cognitive dissonance you have to have to be a photo journalist in that position
27 May

a very slow paced and tender film. its quiet but that's what makes it so loud. idk i saw a tiktok clip of this and thought peter dinklage looked hot and i was met with this very special treat
27 May
i heard there were hellraiser parallels and that's all i needed. beginning was slow but i got into it by the end. cool sfx!
27 May
rewatch
a gender-bent cinderella story starring heartthrobs max schneider and keke palmer?? absolutely. this was my first rewatch since childhood and it is soooooo cheesy but i love it
31 May
trans monster movies ftw!!! i really enjoyed this. had to rent on youtube bc i couldn't find it streaming anywhere and i think it was well worth it. lots of fun ooey-gooey fx too!
01 June
okay. i knew this would be sad but come on man that's depressing. zoned in and out for bits but there were a few moments that really had my attention
02 June

rewatch

HAPPY PRIDE GONZO!!! color me shocked when i first found out this film flopped upon release. i truly have no critiques!! i love this shit!!!
04 June

sooo many horror clichés shoved in here in an all too serious way. theres so many cool ways you could do a tarot horror movie but this did not hit. even when some of the kills were cool they would hardly show any of it!!
05 June

i was not expecting this! was putting off watching bc i feel like this shit is overdone but i actually had a great time! can't believe i missed watching on 06/06 tho
07 June
heard jane schoenbrun showed this to the cast of I Saw The TV Glow and i knew i had to check it out. so engrossing in its visuals and punk, nihilistic, queer attitude. i really truly loved this.
08 June
rewatch
what a beautiful experience to get to see something i love so dearly in theaters. many more subtleties were revealed that the youtube video quality had hidden. just confirmed that this is so incredibly special to me. and it was my first time going to the movies by myself!!!
08 June
dude. what the fuck. how did the producer not face any ramifications for what he put this man through?? that's literally abuse?? i love reality tv but this really shows how evil it can be when you take ethics and morals out of the equation
08 June
a very charming gay 90s teen romance find! reviews hyped it up a lot but it didn't really connect with me. though its very decent for what it is
09 June
i mean it is what it says it says, i'll give it that. and shines a light on stunt work which i think is v cool!
09 June
tried to watch with the rats but everyone just wanted to escape the whole time. I love jim henson and i always love finding more old behind the scenes footage stuff, but I've seen better put together documentaries on youtube
10 June
this rocks. 60s is not my favorite decade for movies but this screams 60s in the very best way possible. also it's mainly just jane fonda being hot, what's not to love?
15 June
growing up in central PA i never understood why there was so much concern around ticks growing up but i truly get it now. great goop and i love seth green. stupid fun!
15 June
1988 best year for b-rated horror hands down. i stand by this. and this schlocky, slimey, ooey gooey, low budget mess is a great representation of that. well done babes
15 June
we live in a society!! boring at times but ultimately great sfx and storyline. stuart gordon knows what's up
16 June
i guess it's bug horror season! not as overt with its initial gross out bug gore like Ticks or Slugs and takes a minute to build up. but i feel like the ending makes up for it!
17 June
there was a gif of this going around on twitter so i wanted to check it out. love the badass lilith representation!! really fun sfx as well. youtube has everything
18 June
rewatch
:,) thank you jenny slate. didn't cry this time but boy i love this so much. two great quotes that i love dearly include "Their greenness is a kind of grief" and of course "I truly enjoy the sound of myself connected to everything"
19 June
YEEAAHH!! this shit was so good. had written it off for awhile bc it seemed like a generic netflix movie but it proved itself to be so much more than that. love u john boyega <3
21 June
fantastic wardrobe and amazing aesthetics throughout. very much enjoyed but i don't think i was giving it the attention it deserved and would love to rewatch
22 June
stoner comedies do not need sequels and that is my official stance. loved the first one and this was fun but not my fav
22 June
this has to be one of the most gorgeous movies i've ever seen. set design out of this world amazing, i loved everything about it. and the wardrobe???? jesus christ that's beautiful. i never thought I'd want to wear medieval men's wear but that was so impactful to me. amazing!!
23 June
going from the og Godzilla & Godzilla Vs Mothra to this, makes me glad the spirt of the series is alive and well. vfx so fun so goooood. watched in 2 parts bc i got sleepy
25 June
watched while doing MCA calls for work. obviously very inspired by Them! but this time we got some grasshoppers/locusts up in this bitch. big bugs ftw!!
26 June
what a gem, can't believe I've never heard anyone talk about this. such a simple and tender movie. add in a rural setting and you got me hooked
26 June
rewatch
my first watch was alone in my room during the beginning of pride, watching it projected on my ceiling. my first rewatch was a year later at the end of pride, in the living room with bee and val. LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!
28 June
there is SO MUCH to chew on through this movies runtime, and it is expressed to you in the most vibrant and vivid way possible. ever since i saw a clip from Good & Bad hair this has been on my watchlist and I'm so glad that Spike Lee films exist!!
29 June

tracks that they would be fae, I appreciate the accurate representation there. also this is the 2nd movie I've watched this year with a strange group of others observing a group of humans from a distance....i'm seeing a theme appear in the age of sharing every aspect of your life into a void of digital people
29 June

I've never wanted to eat a movie more than this. glad i watched while eating a massive amount of takeout or else I would have been VERY hungry. so many fun elements all throughout; this was very special and I love!!
30 June

this....was a wild ride that I was not expecting. upper class suburban life depicted in the most accurate way possible. very silly goofy & also gorgeous to look at!
30 June
kirsten dunst i love you forever. not awful, I definitely giggled. though I cannot conceive a world where I get close to Nixon and he remains unscathed
01 July

didn't even realize i watched this back to back with Dick....haha...nice. this made me quite sad and the bald guy reminded me of that dude from We're All Going to the World's Fair in an icky way
03 July

such a special movie!! kept saying to myself "he's so patient." a tad slow overall for my short attention but there were moments i was really able to soak up the scenery. also ohmygod can we talk about the gore???? that shit was fucked up and i loved it so much holy hell!
04 July

rewatch
this was my seasonal, 4th of July watch due to the military camp setting. homoerotic subtext and tugs at the perils of masculinity for suuuure. not the best but I know I loved it as a kid
04 July

ngl i fell asleep about half way through so I'm not sure what I missed but I liked what I saw!! very fun, weird shit.
04 July
silly, goofy, stupid, dumb fun!! found while looking through kate's liked movies bc I trust her taste and this was dead on.
05 July
finally got around to watching one of Bee's favorites!! can definitely see why they love it so much. 90s queer cinema strikes again. and the soundtrack just makes it that much better
06 July
stopped watching about 15mins in when i first found it a year or 2 ago bc the quality was so shit, so I'm glad it is more accessible now! not my fav, but still had the wacky araki charm i love so dearly. plus james duval <3
06 July
i love film as a medium for story telling and this really brilliantly told such a multifaceted story. depressing as all fuck tho, there is nothing feel good about this. also transgenderism strikes again ☑️☑️☑️
07 July

what do you mean you never saw separating them as a bad thing?? shit is fucked up; no study is worth this.
07 July

watched periodically while completing work for the day. you lost me at all the boring military talk and won me back with the gorgeous leading lady. monster was cool but we didn't get to see nearly enough of it!!!
08 July

this spread the urban legend of flushed alligators living in the sewer system like wildfire for ages. a really solid 80s creature feature!! good gore, sfx, and a leading guy I don't hate, score!
08 July
gonna be so honest I didn't care for this (known anthology hater, who would've guessed) but I kept seeing it pop up under directors I love so I gave it a watch!
09 July
"The ghost of progress visited us....Do you remember the forest where you became a man? The government razed down the trees to make way for a new highway for tourists." There's so much I could say about this movie, but I think that says a lot. This shit really hit me!!
10 July
needed something to throw on and make me feel less shit. very middle of the road in terms of a pixar movie but given i'm a fucking nerd about child psychology I appreciated it. i love anxiety <3
11 July
rewatch
watched periodically while working. i love known transsexual Troy Bolton
12 July

this just might be one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. I screamed laughing and I sobbed hysterically. I also consumed 1 (one) bottle of wine. but holey shit this was everything to me. and also a film that depicted covid in the best way i've seen so far??? every aspect of this, so good. will go down in history as something spectacular.
12 July

---

didn't love it as much the 2nd time because i was not a bottle of wine deep but this still solidly stands as one of the best movies i've seen this year.

26 July

the more experimental/art house-y it got by the end the more I really got into it. gonna be honest though while watching i was reminded that punk does not always = queer and it made me sad.
13 July
i don't think i even know what to say about this?? so glad I went to see it in theaters because if I was not that immersed I wouldn't have been able to stay focused. not the scariest thing ever like I've seen some people hyping it up to be, but Definitely. Very. Unsettling. much to think about
13 July
not sure if you could guess but this has some sick as fuck stop motion!! literally disgusting! i love it!! not super engaging plot wise but i did really enjoy this
13 July
rewatch
drunken half watch to procrastinate going to bed. haven't watched for years upon years and yet I could still remember so many lines before they happened. I couldn't even count how many times I've seen this
13 July

early 2000s rom-coms you have my heart. this has some fun elements to it that i really had fun with. plus kirsten dunst, once again my love, what's not to enjoy
14 July

this movie actually exists at the intersection of everything that I love. can't believe I never heard of this until now, this is so incredibly special to me. fell asleep a little over half way through though due to an abundant need for rest, so definitely need to rewatch at some point.
14 July
rewatch
wanted a familiar movie to close the night out. this shit is so well done it's actually hard to grasp. was very eepy sleepy so I drifted in and out a bit, but god I love this. best leading brother sister duo, truly.
14 July
"suicide is for faggots" really says it all. does a really great job at capturing the worst gay guy you know. very chaotic, stressful, and a good time!
15 July

felt like an extra credit assignment id be assigned for class and then tell everyone about (love you Sins Invalid). didn't pay nearly as much attention as it deserves but this was a really poignant watch
16 July

rewatch
comfy cozy classic!!! this is literally the perfect "stoner movie" if there is one. gregg knows what's up and every time i watch one of his movies I feel grateful to be alive
17 July

i really loved this. made me laugh and cry and feel so much joy. also social worker/service coordinator brain found so many fun things with this as well. balled my eyes out when i realized the reason he was able to help her up was bc of oopsie upsie.
19 July

rewatch
on a the bus back from a field trip in middle school we were not allowed to watch this because it was unrated. i believe that to be a good choice. this is literally peak 2010s and i am so sorry to say i was entertained. SUE ME FOR HAVING A LITTLE JOY IN LIFE!
19 July

was mostly on in the background but when i was paying attention i was glued to it. soundtrack is so fucking early 80s. cried twice and realized i need to take my meds. grief is a selfish fucking process but in the end it brings us together!!! (sarah is so me)
20 July

if i met death i would also talk him through breathing exercises, bath him, and get high together. this felt strong in the first 3/4ths but dragged on by the end.
20 July

this was actually so fucking sad and i went in not knowing anything so that really hurt me out of left field. also the most depressing white girl music you can think of. cried. (also found out while watching that biden dropped out of the race???)
21 July

thought this would just be some weird romcom & did not know we'd be doing all that! had high hopes from the beginning but it wasn't really able to keep my attention. solid movie tho!
21 July

wasn't gonna watch a movie tonight to let myself rest for a minute but it felt like something was missing. so Rodger Corman to the rescue. this is not that great, but the very few moments we get to see the monster that looks like a Thwomp are beautiful to me. also made receding hairlines look sexy, so that's a win.
23 July

british accent jump scare. hey what the hell did i just watch! omg saw so many rave reviews about this and part of me loves it and part of me just wanted more. when the goop and gore was on screen, just absolutely beautiful. but i need more of it!! also clearly BEGGING for a franchise
24 July
not a fan of this franchise. didn't like the first one. but i'll watch anything Lupita is in. also 5 stars for the cat actor!!
25 July
environmental horror!!! in the late 70s!!! i have never heard anyone talk about this which is SURPRISING bc this rocks. some anti-indigenous sentiment i take issue with but overall pretty solid. and fun sfx!!
26 July

the last movie was from 1979 is a veeerrry 80s way. this is from 1979 in a veerrryy 70s way (especially with the pacing) which is unfortunately not my fav. fun underground punk scenes tho & very pretty women <3
26 July

very typical fun mid 80s teen monster flick. but i'm so sorry i can't fucking stand jim carrey, i just cannot. fun leading track tho!!
27 July
first time at the upstairs of the philadelphia film center! body horror and eraserhead lovers unite and rejoice!! this was fun and the stop motion fx were everything to me. epic shit going down here
27 July

watched with bee and came to the conclusion that this is truly the ultimate twee vampire movie. such dumb stupid cgi but i LOVE IT. so stupid, dumb, and very 2012. PLUS CARNIVAL OF SOULS FEATURE!! I LOVE!!
28 July

recommended by bee who said this was their American Psycho without having seen American Psycho. But having seen this now i think i get why they would say that. nick cage is so fun in this
28 July

rewatch

obviously had to watch after seeing Vampire's Kiss and having it fresh on my brain. got this one finished before noon due to a cancellation in my schedule! upon reflection there are certainly parts of this i believe Bee will really enjoy but Vampire's Kiss really is their American Psycho i suppose.
29 July

watched in the background while mostly working but i would stay locked in for mother bird scenes. no plot, just people in the late 50s already trusting technology more than their fellow man. also when he laughed after he shot her down i was sad :(
29 July
HAD to see why this was rated so low and honestly feel like it would've done considerably better if released as its own movie and not as an American Psycho sequel. not half bad! and come on baby the soundtrack? you got me.
29 July

60s hippie mumblecore acid-horror. reminded me of Slacker in that that dialogue flows so naturally but then with a very psychedelic twist that was very fun. I enjoyed this despite my difficult two part journey to complete!
02 August

no wonder i've been putting off watching so long, it's because i have good instincts and this is shit. dialogue was distractingly bad. and the only thing i really enjoyed about this was the autistic child and being occupied on the train to harrisburg
02 August
a nice slow burn horror ft greta gerwig!! nothing too special or fancy, but nails what it's aiming for very well. watched in 2 parts due to sleepiness but enjoyed nonetheless
04 August
straight people are so unimaginative because this could've been so much more of a wild ride and yet it was decidedly not. like the long looooooming shot as she's about to pet frank, give me a BREAK. and it took an hour into the film to get any kind of perverted shit in there (ie: spanking & a ball gag). gay pup players would've done it better without a doubt.
04 August
Girl, Interrupted meets Pump Up the Volume with an abundance of lesbianism. i enjoyed this!! lost some interest by the last quarter but this is a very beautifully well rounded film. <3
05 August
the vibes with this were so good i wish i would've saved it until thanksgiving time to watch. also parker posey i literally love you so much
05 August
not as impactful to me as Pearl or X, but it's definitely a fun slasher in its on right. plus Mia Goth is incredible in absolutely everything she's in.
05 August
rewatch
MY BABY!! every time i see this i love it more and more. heard someone recently say it can be read as an allegory for class as well so that has been fun watching while thinking about! so many things to love here!!!
06 August
a background watch but this feels like a good movie for that. very cozy late 00s teen comedy! i <3 women with lesbian haircuts
06 August
realized about 5 minutes in, maybe it is good to watch trailers every once and awhile? not sure that i properly enjoyed it but i do very highly respect it, this was good!! and truly highlights ms. schafer's abilities (beauty and lesbianism). + saw at the theater with val!
09 August
wanted something light hearted to close the night out. this was solid but not my favorite. all the actors were amazing obviously but idk the movie wasn't for me.
09 August
perfect saturday movie!! james marsden i love you so much. and opening and closing tracks remind me why i love 00s teen comedies so much
10 August
FUCK YEAH!!! have been waiting forever to watch this ever since it come out at TIFF and it is everything I could've wanted!!! so amazing, so hilarious, and so heartfelt and relatable. so glad this exists in the grand scheme of trans media <3
10 August
rewatch
undoubtedly one of my favorite movies ever. it makes me so happy and i love it so much. lloyd dobbler you are everything to me. s/o to me for waking up at 2am and deciding to watch bc why the hell not (still counting as a saturday watch tho)
10 August
in coming back home from Cuckoo, Val said he finally got to watch this and explained the full plot, so figured i may as well watch. very gorgeous!! overhyped for my personal ability to fully enjoy, and also i was unfortunately very sleepy.
11 August

so sad when the credits rolled, i wanted to live in this world forever!! spent $10 to own bc i KNEW id love it and i was so right. this was absolutely everything to me and exactly the kind of movie I'm so glad to be seeing made in present day (though pre-pandemic)
11 August

it's always fun to me seeing how 50s sci-fi movies depict the atmosphere on different planets. turns out venus is raining cunty outfits! this wasn't anything great but it was camp so points for that<3
13 August
didn't know this was british so i was jump scared by the cockney accent. but holy shit i looooove this. gorgeous to look at aesthetically and hits at some really great themes for the mid-60s of repressed homosexuality & compulsive heterosexuality!!! and Dot's blonde hair? come on, I love this.
13 August
okay this was so much fun I did not expect to like this as much as I did. found on a VHS transfer recording on youtube. being a renaissance woman who loves weed and is forced to pay taxes is too real.
14 August
thought this would be a throw away to just have on in the background but I should've known better when I saw it was directed by Andrew Fleming. This was so much fun and felt like a very warm 90s movie! A more accessible Splendor if you will. Plus the acting is camp af i cannot get over it.
15 August

meatcore. i'm too drunk to give more of a review than that. was anticipating something that connected with me a bit more, but as with my bpd there were moments i felt strongly in small bursts. something that works well playing in the background with great (incredibly diy punk) aesthetics
16 August

had been putting off watching bc I thought it'd be more like V/H/S but this was a fun little mockumentary type vibe!! solid watch
16 August
reminded me of God's Own Country but in a way that actually analyzed the racism intertwined into their relationship and the landscape around them. would benefit from a rewatch but this was really solid. will forever think about the scene of him spitting champagne into his mouth.
17 August
modern french emo vampires!!! obsessssed with her trench coat, every shot of her just standing there staring is so good to me. this was visually gorgeous and a really fun time the whole way through!
17 August

i feel very pulled in two directions on this!! on one hand, the production and costume design is top tier A plus. this was so visually stunning to look at. I thought that scene toward the end where she has that shit caller and we feel disoriented along with her really hit a nerve with me. but overall feels like it was really missing a true connection with the story it's trying to tell. Spike Lee I love you but at the end of the day you're still a man, and that's okay!!
18 August

rewatch
first time i saw this i was high and heavily dissociated and it was so impactful to me. this time it didn't hit as hard! that is to say it was still good, just the emotional impact was lessened. and i was able to take in the comedic bits more which made it enjoyable in a new way! though that ending is DEVASTATING no matter what.
21 August
wanted something coming of age related and unserious; this fit the bill! Aubrey Plaza is an absolute joy and there are a lot of fun names packed in here.
22 August
"not the bore worms!!" has been stuck in my head all day so I wanted to throw it on. set and costume design so stunning and gorgeous to look at. did not pay a LICK of attention to the plot.
23 August
"you should've seen it. it was awesome." and everyone clapped<3 this is one of the most 2012 movies ever and i did enjoy it specifically for that reason. I remember kids hyping this up as being soooo wild growing up.
24 August
unfortunately this got a little too real! didn't think i would relate to it as much as i did. and even if I couldn't relate to the specific actions they were doing, the essence of what it feels to be 13 was so accurately portrayed.
25 August
god i love gender swap movies, no matter how dumb. really truly a perfect blend of being a feminist tale and very misogynistic.
25 August
damn they made a platonic The Fault in Our Stars? i remember lydia reading this back when it came out so i just wrote it off as something more her thing. But this was actually really solid and well done! made me wanna actually start making movies!
26 August
awsten knight singing "I'm Miss Congeniality, everybody's proud of me," is playing on loop in my head. this was fun! not technically a gender swap film but she is swapping from one experience/expression of womanhood to another and that is fun for me to analyze.
26 August
Rhoda is such an icon I don't know why I haven't heard this raved about more. so many quotable lines and such fun acting. really needs to be up there with Damien and Regan in terms of iconic horror kids.
27 August

the first yargos lanthimos movie that did not hit for me. as a known anthology hater, that is not too much of a surprise. third story was my favorite. would love to buzz my head solely to be able to have william dafoe rub it sensually. also, ABSOLUTELY did not need to be 3hrs holy hell who do you think you are.
30 August

the most normal kevin smith movie. very sweet and tender. made me tear up seeing how fucking cool gertie was for killing it as mrs lovett.
31 August
the scripts of both this and Old have me convinced M. Night does not know how human people talk. i mean this was solid but can't say it felt like anything special. all i care about is what I've heard about him making this movie so he could get his kids involved prominently.
01 September
okay. so. heard a lot of good things about this and for the positives i will say this feels like a very technically good horror and has really great atmosphere. that being said, they never drew me to *care* enough and the ending felt unsatisfying. interested to see more from this director tho.
01 September
i had lots of fun with this! lots of great faces in here and the inter-lapping stories kept me engaged the whole time. PLUS MY BABY JAMES DUVAL<33
01 September
such a touching coming of age film in an era of early youtube that brings back so many memories. great portrayal of what it means to try and fit in as a young boy through isolation and modeling misogyny.
02 September

a really good time! a bit slow, but much like Oddity it is able to make up for that by creating such an amazing atmosphere. that scene where the mom pops up out of nowhere is so fucking good ohmygod.
02 September

this was a fun time! went in skeptical bc of negative reviews, and even with its similarities to Fresh I still had a good time with all its weirdness. great visuals and the score really helped it a long as well.
03 September

home renovation gone gooey! I'm not sure what to make of this. lots of great practical fx and aforementioned goop, but not super engaging else wise. I appreciate going on runs to sludge metal and the old man at the bar who prefers that queers live there.
03 September
i love rural witches! though lacking in some parts and some not great cgi, this was a really great addition to the sub-genre of folk horror. what's not to love about a young girl becoming herself apart from her mother while also grappling with her lineage and the cyclical cycle of death and rebirth??
04 September
fun throw away shudder movie. gave me some good chuckles and was cool to see the different depictions of various horror killer stereotypes. nothing amazing
06 September
rewatch
rewatched this last year after i went on my first date in awhile and watching it again after what felt like a very special reconnection gives a different pov. this continues to be important to me in many ways. "don't box yourself in. don't leave yourself wide open. don't think about it every second, but just don't let yourself forget-- the girl is out there." (cried)
08 September
rewatch
so many special, beautiful, amazing, tender, and heartfelt moments packed in here!! this is love!!! i love the scene where they're first walking to the café together, when they're in the car, stealing glances walking up the stairs, and that SONG. god i love this trilogy and this has to be my favorite.
08 September
thought this would be some kind of fantastical videodrome/the brain -esk movie but really it just made me sad about how male loneliness and isolation perpetuates cycles of abuse :( show me gore all day but ELDER ABUSE? thats fucked up.
13 September
watched s3e3 of Reservation Dogs and really fell in love with the style of it so I immediately looked to see who the director was decided to check out some of her stuff! though I feel they could've pushed it a bit more, I really enjoyed this!! a lot of parallels to that episode and reservation schools.
14 September
rewatch
"But the fact that he wanted a sheep, that pretty much proves he exists. Don't you think?" made me sob more than anything else and I'm literally crying right now even thinking about it. fucking hell. this was the first time I've rewatched since I was younger and it hits even harder now.
14 September
checked out by the second half bc this is very long and also i do not care about cars or racing. but that being said this is one of the most visually cool movies I have ever seen. so many fun bright colors and graphics!!
14 September
rewatch
hadn't seen since I was in middle school and it does not hold up<3 but embodies everything I loved about horror as a teen boy: sex, blood, and comedic timing. (also jeremy sisto ily)
18 September
not the best documentary but it was very interesting to hear child stars talk candidly with each other about this shit. demi i love you forever and always my nonbinary icon.
19 September
rewatch
the most recent Carrie iteration I watched was the 2014 remake and after seeing this again for the first time in awhile, I truly just have to say how much Sissy Spacek fucking BODIES this role. no one can do it like her.
21 September
in comparison, I'd definitely say I preferred Hellbender, but these directors really do a fantastic job of creating such a specific type of atmosphere that I enjoy. plot felt a bit weak and there was some bad acting + ukulele throughout but I appreciated the vibes.
22 September
soooooo that was obviously very triggering. and listen i know it's integral to the plot that hayley is a girl but it is So Unfathomably Important to me that she is played by a trans man. because holy shit elliot page killed that. wish he would've actually be castrated tho ://
22 September
rewatch
I could scream I fucking love christina ricci in this so much. very nostalgic and fun to rewatch; whoever did set design i wanna open mouth kiss you. casper is just like me fr.
25 September
I was sitting there wide eyed with the biggest grin you'd ever seen by the time we got to the last quarter (while also trying to keep myself from crying because I love a frankensteins monster so much). THIS is fucking everything to me. there's so much to love here on so many different fronts. made me genuinely squirm at times it was so fucking gross and the sfx were so amazing. as the person next to me in the theater said as the movie was starting and people were still pouring in to find seats in a crowded room, movies are so fucking back.
27 September
speaks volumes on Will's character how he has engaged with Harper throughout her transition and that he is fighting to be so vocal for her. found myself crying periodically throughout and really being emotionally engaged. Will gifting her diamond earrings in the end is one of the most thoughtful gifts I can fathom. I hope all the transphobic men who are obsessed with Will begrudgingly watch this with their wives.
28 September
this shit rocks. though idealized at parts, this really speaks to the heart of queerness in rural environments. visually gorgeous, off the bat was in love with the saturation of colors, and like i said has so much heart to it. cried so much throughout bc this really gets it.
29 September
tbh I kinda checked out with this one, potentially because I'm not big into more action oriented horror with guns, but I appreciate what was going on here. that one scene with all the bugs and maggots? thank you.
29 September
the privilege to hear about the lived experiences of older adults with disabilities cannot be overstated. SOBBED. those intermittent play scenes had such amazing set design and great story telling. sad I missed the q&a with director and cast at PFS Bourse, but so glad this exists. all of our rights are in jeopardy when there are not supports set in place for disabled people, know that.
30 September
Happy first watch of October/kick off to the halloween watchlist!! the only information I retained from my World Religions course freshman year of college was the origins of zombies that we know today being based in African religions, and this has been on my mind since. some great visuals but ultimately something that is more interesting to read about than actually watch.
01 October

"They're Us."
this is a super solid remake! keeps the heart of the original while updating on a few things in a way that feels engaging. plus Tony Todd!!<33 not my fav but really fucking nails what it's doing here in the best way.
02 October

rewatch
homage to b-rated 50s horror!! meta commentary of 90s horror movies of the times!! vibes of a shitty early 80s slasher!! produced and almost directed by bob clark!! shot entirely in kingston Jamaica!! first time revisiting and i looove this shit sm, such a great time!!! what a gem!!!!
03 October
very silly and fun to have watched after Popcorn!! I love horror movies that also love horror movies<3 got to nerd out to all the different references throughout. and this shit is truly the definition of a movie that balances being shitty and amazing at the same time. LOVE
04 October
karloff is a delight to watch per usual, but not much else going on here that I was able to latch on to, which is unfortunate bc I was really looking forward to this one. wanna look more into the production bc I've heard there's some good backstory there.
05 October
a concerning lack of gender swapping going on here and way too heterosexual. a fun ride that had my attention throughout though and lots of fun colors!!
05 October
this shit is so fucking stupid and fun I loved it. matthew mcconaughey is simply having a good time and getting weird with it. wish we would've given leatherface more care and attention, but dumb good fun was had overall.
05 October
rewatch
confirmed the best and most well rounded Wrong Turn movie. great cast (obsessed with Nina and Amber) and a fun sillier take on the original. TCM but for northern appalachia. a lot more cgi gore than I remembered but still TONS of fun kills and gross practical fx.
06 October
house fire uncle house : the movie. asked val what his favorite dcom was and had never heard of this so I was excited to check it out! kat denning and kathy najimy killed it. and for some reason even though I've never seen this, Jumper's costume design was very familiar.
06 October
not the best but the vibes are soooo 80s that I kinda love it. very cheesy with questionable acting but again I think that's part of the appeal for me. only half paid attention tho
06 October
rewatch
did to me what Scream did for most millennials. which is to say I saw it in theaters at age 12 early on in my love for horror and it laid a roadmap for everything I love about the genre. so much fun and I fucking love every line out of Marty's mouth.
07 October
rewatch
this shit is soooo fun!!! they really brought chucky into the meta age of horror in the best way possible!!! plethora of fun kills and awesome practical fx. the puppetry behind how they make the dolls work will always be so impressive to me.
"Rude fucking doll"
08 October

I fuckin love these movies and I'm genuinely shocked I never saw this before!!! ghost pip was literally the cutest fucking thing ever. forgot b-dawg sounded like that. also watching these as a kid you don't really think much about how they're made and just accept the dogs as actors but it's so interesting to think now how difficult it must've been to get all these different shots.
09 October

lots to say here. first off, imo this truly solidifies Art the Clown within the horror pantheon. I love him so dearly and he is such a fun and easily recognizable character that I hope to continue to see more from. and the practical fx were fucking stellar!!! like really truly I am so impressed with what they're able to do here!! but maybe this is just me, at a point I noticed myself feeling desensitized and staring at a pile of blood and flesh on screen without much created empathy which I think would've made it more impactful. the only one that REALLY got me was the rat one towards the end :( both bc it was built up so well and obviously bc those are just sweet little babies. Overall, glad I got to see in theaters!! though very concerned for the young boy I saw in there. (also:: Tom Savini cameo!!)
11 October

very cheesy and not as well put together as it could be but this was such a genuinely good time!! reminded me of a creppypasta I've read before but can't quite remember. the practical fx showcase themselves early on and let you know this is gonna have some fun creature design which I throughly enjoyed. engaging throughout and a super fun watch!
12 October

thought I had seen this before but after watching I'm certain I've only seen the 2nd one. very dumb and not my favorite but I did indeed chuckle a bunch. also holy shit transphobia was PEAK comedy in the early 2000s
12 October
rewatch
i like it :) haven't seen in forever and especially not since the internet latched on to the homosexuality of it all and it solidly holds up. the start of such a beautiful universe
13 October
rewatch
i love herman munster :) ms sheri moon zombie is so amazing in this. and there's such fun visuals to grab onto here which I really appreciate. though I will admit I did just mainly have this on in the background.
14 October
okay, NOW we're getting somewhere with these. beginning was slow but I felt like I really started to appreciate it by the end. GREAT final girl moment too. this really is when Jason gains his momentum and for the first time with this series, I'm genuinely excited to see where we go from here. (also realized while watching that the first 3 movies were all released within a year of each other???? that's nuts)
17 October

a surprisingly very good sequel that lives up to the hype I've heard around it! It's such a daunting task to make a sequel to THEE first slasher, but amongst the many painfully slow early 80s slashers with a lack of plot, this keeps you glued to the screen the whole time in suspense in addition to great kills. plus norman and mary are both very hot <3 love! (also was screaming at the screen half the time as to what his treatment plan was upon release. like this is such a good example of why people need solid support plans upon reentering the world again)
19 October

Asami, May, and Mary get it like no one else does. holy shit. i've heard a lot about this one and it did not disappoint. last 20-30 minutes were DEEPLY uncomfortable and THROUGHLY appreciated
19 October
loved the gore in this very much but there wasn't much else for me to grab onto here. i can get with a no dialogue movie, but this doesn't even try to open itself up to you and explain ANYTHING. which is fine if what I had to piece together myself was engaging, this however was not. Samara Weaving carried.
19 October
not really my thing, though this does lean towards one of my favorite dracula watches if just for the visuals and atmosphere alone. goes for something different than the first 2 which I enjoy. and as always I love a woman in a 40s horror looking stunning in a long sleeve dress.
20 October
AITA: for not enjoying the Alien movie franchise. really truly deeply I want to enjoy these movies so bad but both this time and last I've just found myself very bored and disengaged. xenomorph was cool (and the little babies looked like the babies from RL Stein's The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It.) but otherwise I wasn't super into it. also kept falling asleep toward the end that's my bad.
20 October
couldn't find this anywhere online except via tubi for awhile which only had it as an Italian dub and I thought I was going insane. Nonetheless: not really for me. more of a drama/mystery/thriller than anything else, but still had some great scenery and built up atmosphere every once in awhile! loved how it was stylized too
21 October
rewatch
first saw this while randomly channel flipping on a weekend in like 2014ish and fell so incredibly in love. this is so much fun the whole way through and the practical fx are fucking stellar. Will never forget the scene of that old lady's mouth getting ripped open and genuinely believe the gore in this movie drove me to get considerably more invested in horror. and that mist of blood that would splurt out ommgggg i love it sm. a horror comedy for gore fans who love the genre <3 and saw some behind the scenes with the guy who played Victor and he looked like he had so much fun!! I love it!!
22 October
rewatch
viewed while cat-sitting in lydia's apartment with the joint allie rolled for me <3 forever a classic to meeee
25 October

certainly very freako. literally just some dudes that wanna party plus some guy along for the ride. i love the designs of the little puppet dudes so much and those animatronics are super cool. A LOT of stupid comedy but it worked for me for the most part. and creature design for freak lord towards the end was so fun!!
27 October

slower than I anticipated and a bit difficult to settle into, but overall a decent watch. was expecting more from Andrew Fleming though, but maybe he hit his stride in the 90s. not AS similar to dream warriors as people say it is. loved the fx makeup. bpd is a bitch!
27 October

rewatch
i looooooove this movie sm!! the bigger budget compared to the first is laughably noticeable and makes space for a lot more fun. the creature design for all the unique individuals is everything I could want and more. and it's just an all around good time!! love that ending too. Hennenlotter thank you for all that you do<3
287 October
rewatch
in seeing this after watching Basket Case 2 for the first time in awhile, it's clear this is where part of my love of creature design comes from. there's so many cool background characters in this!! and there's such a vast world here that's so fun to explore throughout all its movies!! so good. watched while doing work for the day
30 October

rewatch
it's really something to see AND hear this from the big screen. demands you pay attention to it for its full runtime despite what is otherwise another boring chase scene, it makes you forget that! lots of fun camera work and cool shots. very glad to have spent my halloween seeing this in theaters :)
31 October

i was really starting to enjoy it... then we hit the training montage and the background song was so corny & stupid it made me take a step back and reevaluate my life. ultimately i did cry in the end so well done, but not as amazing as I heard everyone saying it was
01 November

this is so much fun!!! felt very camp and had such gorgeous dresses oh my god. genuinely loved this so dearly and was glued to the screen the whole way through.
"'Twould be nice to have lips, lips to whisper lies, lips to kiss a man and make him suffer,"
01 November
if i saw this when I was younger I think it would've fundamentally altered me because there are way too many parallels that can be drawn here. this is really what being a teen girl with an overbearing mother and inattentive father who both spend more time caring about your sick sibling than you and your suspected bpd so they stick you with a priest to talk shit through with but actually it's john waters is really like. i love it.
01 November

this is an amazing fucking time capsule of such a specific point in time. something i would've genuinely loved and enjoyed on youtube if it saw the light of day back then, and something that still had me laughing watching it now. pennsylvania pride baby
02 November

---

rewatched on my phone to have on in the background as I fell asleep but I really do love this sm and watched the whole thing. also I think I'm a bit dense bc I really did think it was just old footage from 2009 lmao.

04 November

very much the same boring pacing and vibe as your average early 80s slasher, but with some fun fall aesthetics. plus tom hank's first movie credit!! everyone you love in hollywood first started out in horror<3
02 November

I honestly don't know how to fully articulate my thoughts at the moment, but I do know I loved this deeply. went in without knowing much and the complete *silence* from the entire theater as the credits rolled after that final scene had solidified to me how fantastic this was. some really fucking great camera work throughout and really interesting/engaging shots. a little over 2hrs long but felt like so much longer in a good way!!
02 November

a very clear lover letter to kevin smith's childhood and his love for films. corny/cheesy with the all knowing kevin smith nudge wink to the camera, but after watching so many of his movies, interviews, and behind the scenes stuff, I could tell this was coming from a genuine place even if it wasn't the greatest outcome.
03 November

one of the best werewolf transformations up there with The Howling and An American Werewolf in London!! the practical fx in here are fucking sick and I <3<3<3 them. plus some absolutely AMAZING set design im obsessed with and a gay little werewolf that shows a glimpse into a later movie from this director *cough cough*
03 November

put on as a fun watch given the upcoming election tuesday. not my favorite but had some great moments for sure. reese witherspoon plays such a fun character + i did not know there would also be lesbianism involved!
03 November

had to stare blankly at the credits there for a bit and process everything. first post election watch and I am indeed A Different Man. oh god this shit hurt. to hate yourself for something you try so hard to change while others are thriving under it. i had a fear while watching that I have changed but the worst parts of me have stayed the same. oh god. and the score on this thing?? absolutely. really stunning piece about self image.
06 November

I really wanted to enjoy this bc the subject matter itself of social capital correlating to the function of democracy & government is very interesting, but this screams shitty netflix documentary.
07 November
another fun watch at the upstairs of the PFC! had a slow pace at the beginning but I was pretty into it by the end. plus there were lot of fun parts throughout that had the crowd laughing. not the best, not the worst!
08 November

first of all that prophet lady in the basement is one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen so jot that down in your little notebook. maybe would've been more impactful if I remembered or cared about any of the religious shit I learned as a kid. a bit pretentious by the climax but i had sooooo much fun throughout and there was always something captivating going on. also didn't know wtf "Dolby Cinema" was before but I heard that shit everywhere.
08 November

recommended to me by Linde!! to start this off: this is the first Troma movie I actually enjoyed, and I'm glad I stuck it through bc I knew it was possible! everything is up to a 10 and it's so fucking meta and stupid. the practical fx here are some of my absolute favorite and I cannot give it high enough praise. all that said, this is one of the first times in a movie where the transphobia I was witnessing was genuinely horrifying and heartbreaking. like that actually hurt me and I feel like it tainted part of it for me. much to think about here.
09 November
fuck yeah baby, i love this shit. so unbelievably incredible to do this in 1 shot with 5 takes total. a really fun modern take on zombies that is wildly enjoyable. i was along for the ride the whole time and i am so here for fucked up zombies skipping around, twirling, and riding bikes!!
09 November
leith ross needle drop not even 5 minutes in and you got me hooked. SOBBED during the One Less Lonely Girl mushroom trip scene bc I've never felt more seen. great Sunday movie watch about the importance of gratitude and time spent with family.
10 November

didn't realize tony todd was in this :( rip to such a legend. this was really cheesy stupid with a lot of questionable choices but the practical fx were so much fucking fun I literally didn't care about anything else. sick af and very Hellraiser-esk
11 November

really stunningly gorgeous all throughout. looks and sounds beautiful. but thematically? dogshit. what point are you tryna make here babes. my eyes started getting heavy around halfway through before she bit him in the neck and it started squirting blood and i woke back up :) not great overall, but i was entertained
14 November
need a husky boy like you out on my poultry farm <3333 70s mumblecore to the max. this thing was meant to be viewed high out of your mind with friends but i watched it high and alone, paranoid my neighbors could hear that same god awful screaming sound effect playing on loop
15 November
this sucked and i really don't have anything more to add to it than that because it simply did nothing for me i am so sorry. genuinely wanted to give this a chance.
15 November
one hell of a trip i'll tell you that much. disgusted by those fursuit doodlebobs. val hated the goop and I loved it :) giving birth to the creature from the black lagoon sure is something. i am also very drunk and sleepy<3
15 November
started watching around 10am and fell back asleep around 40mins in because it is very slow and not subject matter I typically cling to. enjoyed it alright by the time i restarted, though the narration began to annoy me. were starting to get into Thanksgiving themed watches baby!!
17 November
not what i was expecting but an incredible gem and debut from this director. not to compare but it very much reminded me of what I've seen so far from kelly reichardt. hard to give my full attention to but rewarding in the end for doing so. shits rough.
17 November

Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass!! i love their energy together and I'm so glad I came across this. very middle of the road overall but they are amazing in everything they do. also SUCH a 2012 movie
18 November

confidently added to the weird girl canon. I get her and in another life I am her. she needed someone to truly match her freak and you know what? in the end i guess he did. (though in all actuality i need her and May to fall in love)
19 November
rewatch
tinkerbell by bpd queeeennn! i fucking love these movies so much. no wonder my ass loved terence as a kid. also bobble and clank are so fucking gay for each other<33
20 November
zoowee mama this shit is a fever dream. I for some reason was under the assumption it would be leaning more into the historical aspect, but this shit got whacky. lots of fun surprises, gags, and practical fx!!
21 November
rewatch
first VHS tape watch on my new VCR!!!!! ahhhhh i love it so much, and got to unbox and experience with Bee and Val which is even better<3 we all collectively did not remember scarecrow had a gun.
22 November
watched while drinking a 4loko and prepping for emo night tonight!!! you literally cannot get any better than this I swear to you. lady gaga at her most chaotic album doing a live holiday special with the muppets. something that should truly go down in history. also pepe stop touching her like that omg.
23 November
rewatch
hello and welcome to life post alcohol poisoning. last night i watched the last 40-30 or so minutes of The Muppet Movie and cried and now i needed a bit more muppet silliness to balance me out. very made for tv movie but a very good time. kelly osbourne cameo is still so funny to me.
25 November
a really stunning and tender movie about relationships, growing apart, and loss. one of those films that really revels in its stillness and has a lot to say in its quiet moments. loved it<3 also the soundtrack was everything
25 November

I....cried so much while watching this. oh my god. i'm literally so pissed off on her behalf and I'm so glad we get the cathartic ending we do. needed her and the monster to have hardcore BDSM sex so badly but I'll take them growling at each other in bed at minimum.
25 November

i will say as someone who did not really enjoy the first one, this actually felt like a good time. obsessed with the sfx, that was some yummy gore so thank you very much for that. no less than 10 Voss water cameos (I counted) which was the most horrifying thing of all.
25 November

this stressed me out and pissed me off more than anything. given trump has eluded to the purge being a good idea, no one show him this. had some of the most annoying characters that i started getting pissed it wasn't a horror.
26 November

watched while prepping thanksgiving dinner<3 rdj looks great in this and I love holly hunter's voice. a very cozy watch on vhs but one I honestly did not pay that close attention to<3

28 November

told myself i wasn't gonna watch this but here we are. goddamn american remakes watering everything down. loses all sense of tension, buildup, and atmosphere that the original has. but i will say i did still really enjoy the characters, especially Ant in that final act!!
29 November
after watching Gothic and loving how whacky it got, I knew I needed to check this out. and omg was I right. love me a sexy serpent lady with a giant strap<3 those dream sequences were nutty and sfx were so much fun!
29 November
production design was so good and i loved all the fun props and set design. however....i got bored after the first hour because i did not care about the plot. its an interesting premise thematically but otherwise i couldn't get myself to care. loved it beside that!
29 November
shudder slop that i will gladly slurp up. the idea of a gooey, gelatinous, monstrous god is so comforting to me. lots of silly moments throughout and the ending was satisfying.
29 November
not enough lady and not enough monster imo. reminded me a lot of 1940's Black Friday but with telepathy instead. and the narration was not needed
30 November
more shudder slop<3 s/o to the cool silent alien improving this man's life and also fucking it up. nothing spectacular but a fun time overall.
30 November
rewatch
had on in the background during craft night with bee. didn't pay too close attention but it satisfied my need to rewatch. i love this movie so much it is so stressful and well done.
30 November
jesus christ that hurt. i have not been able to look at andrew garfield the same since that chicken shop date video. he really plays my perfect man. i really enjoyed the jumps through time, they didn't feel exhausting like most do and flowed really well. cried a bunch. fuck cancer.
01 December
having your water break at a Mario Bava fest during Kill, Baby... Kill! is so fucking badass. i can't tell, and i don't know if the movies decided, where this lies between a kids movie and a proper horror. had fun either way with some really cool sfx. Catherine O'Hara kills
01 December
walked through the Christmas Village today and the vibes were palpable + val said this was one of his family's favorites so I wanted to check it out! lots of goofy fun, something that would've been a hit in my family as well. loved seeing the kid who played little Anakin!! and a madeline cameo, obsessed. cried by the time we got to the end so you know it's a good one.
01 December
i think i've seen this as a kid but i didn't remember enough of it to be sure. poster made me think it'd be some twin or secret life type deal but this was much more enjoyable!! also was she openly gay for the popular girl?? because that's what it felt like. also love you joan cusack<3
02 December
thought it would have more gay yearning for a movie called Girlfriends but then again I think I was too sleepy to pick up on a lot of the subtleties. great depiction of loneliness and the loss/birth of relationships. very tender and quaint. Susan is such a great lead and I'm so glad we got to follow her around.
03 December

so sorry Mr. Araki but this was not it for me which is why I had put it off for so long. the tone (though watered down) is still the same araki we know and love, just applied to some subject matter i'm disinterested in. soundtrack was also amazing and probably my favorite.
04 December

saw the clip of BABYMETAL in the sequel so i knew i wanted to check this out. lots of fun dry humor, silly one liners, and boys with long hair! i really love their song they play too, made me very giddy. i really relate to the inpatient drummer guy bc i too am only soothed in my anger by heavier music.
05 December

very cringe but somewhat enjoyable. more y2k themed than it felt actually based in that time period. i enjoyed the dykey nu metal girl and fred durst cameo. also... chumbawumba <33 (btw when kyle mooney came on screen a girl in the theaters loudly exclaimed how ugly he was)
06 December

rewatch
truly one of my favorite christmas themed horror movies. watched for the first time the year 2 of my childhood pets died within a few weeks span of each other and the absolute bleakness to this really hit home for me. the performances are fantastic, it draws you in, and the ending pays off!!
06 December

this was so fucking grand!! I've enjoyed Charles Laughton in both of the movies I've seen him in, so to find out he directed something of this magnitude is wonderful. the lighting and shadows are such an amazing part of the story throughout. visually stunning and incredibly encapsulating through the entire run time. LOVE!!!
07 December
and thus concludes my year of harold and kumar </3 this was a good time! nothing can beat the original obviously, but I can definitely see myself rewatching this as a christmas themed viewing for years to come. nothing beats long time friends reconnecting <3
07 December

jon morirsugu's fascination with raw meat can be so personal to a man. this was veeerrrryy 2013. think i prefer his older stuff but this was still a very interesting look to see where he goes with digital. the high pitched noises got annoying after awhile tho, that's my main critique.
07 December

lots of layers to this one and i really enjoyed exploring all of them. very stressful and anxiety enducing to watch. i have many feelings. thank you john waters for being my final push to check this out.
07 December

this was fun! still debating if the BABYMETAL cameo is worth having watched both movies but i love them dearly and they were great in this<3 i liked the lead guy's cowboy hat :)
07 December

first things first i don't think the people who wrote this know a damn thing about being a therapist, so that was slightly annoying throughout. and dude she slept with her patient no hesitation at all?? that was the most disturbing part. the blood and gore was otherwise very satisfying and I enjoyed seeing my beloved Barbara Crampton!! s/o Joe Lynch
08 December
more of a time killer/background watch than anything else since we all know I'm not really Alien's biggest fan. I gotta say tho, there was some really cool shit and awesome fx going down here. that birth scene will haunt me for sure.
08 December
they weren't lying when they said this is mainly just clips from the first movie. literally for the first half hour of the movie at least. we then get to an assortment of fun kills with our lead shouting "naughty" and that's pretty much it. not too much else going on here!
10 December
not as blown away by this as much I expected to be based on what I've heard about it. some really great shots in this though, for that alone I understand.
11 December
woke up earlier than planned so decided to throw something on! sound and stillness are used very effectively for an eerie feel. suuuper vibey movie. (can you blame me if my eyes got heavy for a bit) but sets a great tone/atmosphere that makes for some impactful moments and great kills!
12 December
Jason comes to his prime in what was supposed to be his end!! Idk what's going on, but I really do feel like these movies keep getting better as they go. this feels like the most well rounded of them so far, despite fizzling a bit in the middle for me. Happy actual Friday the 13th!!
13 December
man discovers satellite maps: can't handle the pressure. never heard of this before and it was a fun find! lots of great names in here too.
13 December
for as much as I don't gravitate towards the 70s, they really do have some vibey movies. a thriller/mystery horror so not really my vibe, but for a made for TV movie, it's pretty solid! great cast too.
14 December

I know it's based on people's lived experiences, but it could've definitely used more homosexual undertones. the themes of The Leather Boys was peaking out juuuust around the corner. didn't need to be so long, but otherwise enjoyed. also,,, Come Softly To Me needle drop <3
14 December

cunty vampire puppetry......dude this was so cool. a lot different than what i was expecting from it but it surprised me in a way I really enjoyed! sooo beautiful to look at the entire runtime and i am obsessed with whoever did costume and makeup. lots to love!!!
14 December

rewatch
cozy VHS watch while eating panda express <3 val joined me for the last half. this is such a gem to me and brings back so many fun memories. truly a classic in my eyes no matter how much of a dick tim allen is.
14 December

was starting to feel a bit bored with what I had on queue to watch and this....this saved me. nuns doing heroin and lines of coke talking about god and lesbianism oh and also they have a real life fucking pet tiger??? holy fuck yes. saw a lot of criticism about his not being super engaging/slow but babe look harder bc I was hooked
15 December

richard linklater you bastard. put this on expecting not to give a shit but i was crying by the end. he has such a way of making me care about whatever he puts on screen so intensely. and glen powell I'm so sorry i was not familiar with your game. very fun watching him cycle through his personas. also unexpectedly very horny.
15 December

so apparently this is supposed to be a remake of Silent Night Deadly Night, but all I could make out in terms of parallels is a hatred of Christmas and that kill scene with the antlers. other than that, this was a shitty cop horror with not much else to add other than christmas themed sleaze.
15 December
laughed to myself during the end credits thinking 'and things is her directorial debut!!!' god the score and sound design really pulled me in, and the cinematography was just gorgeous as well. badass af and would be 4 stars but i am definitely understanding the critique on the girlboss type ending. other than that? throughly enjoyed.
15 December

for the life of me I can't remember if I've seen this or not, but that jack russell elf looked way too familiar. Buddy was somehow completely erased from my memory as a character in this franchise. on in the background but solid none the less. I fucking Love Tiny.
17 December

merry muppet christmas :) It's A Wonderful Life tale + a bunch of other christmas clichés make for a super cozy and fun christmas watch with very 2000s vibes. kermit is suicidal af, there's lots of interesting full body puppet shots, and Joan Cusack kills it!!
18 December
i love jamie lee curtis in everything she's in so much omg. this was a nice cozy christmas watch in the playroom but not much else to say otherwise.
23 December
love!! very festive (and corny)!! unfortunately much like sabrina this was very short :/ i wanted a whole movie length of this.
23 December
reviews are correct, this is not great, but I love the cast so it gets a pass from me. and after watching 3 christmas movies in a row I am definitely feeling in the christmas spirit now!
23 December
rewatch
this is truly thee best Muppet Christmas movie to me. the most homey, cozy, and grounded. an amazing cross over with literally everyone (sesame street and fraggles included!!), great musical numbers, and lots of silly bits!! LOOK OUT FOR THE ICY PATCH!!
23 December
this was an unexpected find and a great watch!! super vibey and gorgeous to look at. i loved that mad scientist take on vampirism that's literally so much fun. and we have the same freaky dude from Frankenstein and Dracula!! love!!
24 December
rewatch
merry christmas from my family to yours <3 this really is the ultimate christmas movie and i genuinely cannot remember a year we didn't watch it together.
24 December
rewatch
i found out today this is only 93 minutes long when i could have sworn it was 2 hours MINIMUM! feels dry and drags on but captures childhood christmas mundanity very well. bob clark knows what's up
24 December
rewatch
merry christmas morning <3 watched with mom and dad while waiting for lyd to wake up. to be so honest i really do think this is one of the best rankin/bass movies they made. i also took an edible earlier so watching that acid trip song with jessica was fucking fantastic. LOVE!!!
25 December
this shit sucked and I knew it would but we wanted something to throw on to end the night and I couldn't think of anything else. i don't know if i was supposed to be laughing at all the tense moments so much but it's just so stupid.
25 December
it could be the lager talking, but this shit rules. Carry On if it didn't suck and was awesome. wesley snipes absolutely fucking devours this role and is incredibly hot while doing so. very grateful to have found this gem in my parents basements.
26 December
remind me to watch this again in a few months bc this has the best summer roadtrip vibes that I'm kinda pissed I watched it during winter. gives 2012 in the best way possible despite being made in 2005 and I don't know how to articulate that just yet. mark duplass kills it & i love him dearly.
27 December
not nearly as freaky as a movie about D/s relationships should be. gorgeous to look at and really great use of sound, but this fell flat for me as it lacks a general understanding of What Kink Is. I'm not even sure if the movie understand the point it's trying to make aside from the one good quote in the end where she says something along the lines of 'sorry for telling you I was someone else then getting upset with you for not knowing who I am'. other than that, Val and I spent the whole walk home talking about how infuriating that dude was as a character. good bones and was kinda hot at points, but never took it far enough or had a good enough grasp on what its trying to be.
27 December

got scared for a second there might not be a train (there was). danny devito is a fucking genius man. that scene with the payphones? dude knows how to make a fun and engaging movie. not typically my thing but my dad recommended this to me!
27 December

this is some whacky weirdo shit and I loved it even if I'm not too sure what I just watched. was not expecting the musical element whatsoever but I think it really worked well with some great song choices. lots of great names in this as well!! would watch again!
28 December
yupyupyupyupyup, this is for me. watched the Totally F***ed Up commentary track recently and finally figured out this was the movie playing in the background of that one scene. has a lot of parallels as well that I wasn't expecting!! was mostly on in the background but I think that definitely works to its benefit.
28 December
rewatch
came home very drunk from the bar and bee said they got me a twilight DVD from goodwill for christmas :,) this movie is everything to me i love it so much and literally everything about it is perfection. i needed this <3
28 December
full of rain sounds, gorgeous vibrant greens, and soup! heart warming not in the sense necessary that it's feel good, but that it feels alive. this was really so beautiful visually and emotionally. i <3 quiet movies
29 December
was not particularly engaged with the first half but I think it started to grab me more towards the end. dolly parton looks amazing, that graveyard scene is iconic, and you will always see me praising a movie that does such a great job at articulating the cycle of death and birth.
29 December
