Sunshine
what the damz. this was never on my watchlist, but I'm glad I watched it kasi it was good.
i love this movie. the plot, the storytelling, the message and the symbolism — kudos.
the only thing i hate about this movie is how well it portrayed our societal issues.
this movie shows how fucked up our government system is. the issue about teenage pregnancy and 🍇 has been going on for ages, and up until now, it doesn't seem to be addressed properly. kasi truth be told, maraming politicians sa pilipinas ang corrupt na puro walang kwentang bagay inaatupag.
another thing that's very well portrayed here is how judgemental our society is. imagine how many women are choosing not to speak up and protect themselves because of the fear of being judged. kasi at the end of the day, the blame still goes back to them. and it's crazy how toxic and close minded people become when it comes to this topic. no matter what you do, people will still find reasons to judge you and to put the blame back to you. all while the offenders just receive some little hate with no accountability taken.
i've also noticed the issue with the religious pressure FROM THE PEOPLE. religion is not the problem here, it's the people talaga. many women are told to shut up, be thankful for the "blessing", keep the baby, and then just bear with it. they are dropping those words as if it was that easy. they are taking one's freedom to decide because of their own beliefs. and maybe that's one of the factors why the rates on this issues aren't dropping. kasi many victims are pressured to just keep their voices to themselves and just accept it.
aside from those, the issue about poverty is also highlighted in this movie. kasi most of the 🍇 cases happens to those people who came from families that are financially short talaga. many parents from that type of families tend to sell their family members in exchange for some money. YEP, the economy is fucked up like that. imagine having parents, who are supposed to be protecting you in the first place, tolerate and let you be a part of some disgusting activities for quick cash. tapos what's worse pa is that many of the victims cannot leave or escape kasi wala masyadong government place na tatakbuhan, walang pera, and everyone's judging. think about how many dreams and futures were crushed because of that. it's just frustrating, infuriating, and heartbreaking. tangina good governance when?
anyways, going back to the movie, sunshine's character here is soooo loved and understood by me. and can i just say that I loved maris racal's acting here. her vibe, expression, the delivery of lines — approved by me :p
OK AUN LANG NAMAN, I THINK. sana tumino na sistema ng pilipinas. awa nalang
