Tangled
Tangled is one of those films that sneaks up on you with how heartfelt it really is. On the surface, it’s a dazzling fairy tale with gorgeous animation and songs that stick in your head for days, but underneath, it’s about freedom, trust, and the courage to step into the unknown. Rapunzel’s journey feels so relatable, her mix of fear and excitement when she finally leaves the tower is exactly what it feels like to chase a dream you’ve been holding onto forever; and as a fun fact, when I was a child, I used to think she was exaggerating with that reaction, but I realised she was not, I have acted like that while in circumstances far less worrying, lol. The dynamic between her and Flynn is playful and tender, and their relationship grows in a way that feels genuinely earned. I also like how it balances humor and heart: one moment you’re laughing at Pascal or Maximus, the next you’re swept up in the lantern scene, which is still one of the most breathtaking sequences Disney has ever created.
This is about finding your voice, claiming your freedom, and realizing that the world is bigger and more beautiful than you ever imagined. Something that I really needed to remember. For me, it’s five stars every time.
