Anora
This movie is mostly about the social status that comes with the job of being a sexual worker, as we see along the movie Anora is a sexual worker because she thinks that’s the only thing she’s capable of and that’s the main plot, the shame of marrying a sexual worker.
As we see in the movie Anora was really optimistic about “marrying” Ivan the only time that she has a relationship that actually is a “real” relation, as a sexual worker most of your your relations are sort of “rental” that’s why when Ivan has the idea of marrying Anora she gets so excited because it is her first true love but when Ivan family finds out that it was a sexual worker they get disappointed because of the fact that she’s a sexual worker something that she didn’t had a choice. You can feel Anora’s sadness because just for being a sexual worker she’s not treated the same or doesn’t have as much respect as a person with a different job would have.
On the other hand, a question that many people could ask was “was Anora excited to marry Ivan for being a true love of for the money?” at first, Ivan pays her for most of the sexual relations they had had and increasing the amount so she stayed with him and we can see that at first Anora gets excited with the idea of being with a “rich guy” but as the movie go along, we see that Anora starts to feel a deeper connection with him because instead of calling him Ivan she calls him his husband and also at the end when Ivan family cancels the marriage we see that Anora got really sad cause of the dicision meaning that she actually felt something.
At the end with see a scene of Anora and Igor alone in the car, what happens in this scene is that Anora while talking to him is trying to make out with him but instead of doing it she starts crying and punching Igor. She had may done that because as a sexual worker she was always forced to make out with her clients, (never had an option) but this time that she does have an option she decides not to do it because maybe she never liked it and she mostly felt forced to do it and she starts crying showing us that she never liked the job and the social status that came with it
