Good Time

anxiety-inducing, incredibly stressful, an absolutely gutting ending, and original iggy pop on tha credits?!?!?! the beautiful nightmare you can imagine. idk if i’ve already said this but seriously robert pattinson needs an oscar. his performance was so intelligent and messy and all the bad things but in a sort of good way? like we know he’s committing crimes, let alone the fact he’s doing it with his mentally handicapped brother who’s generally unaware of what he’s doing and relies on him completely, (benny safdie you are ugly as hell but such a good actor (maybe it’s the unibrow (it probably isn’t))) but the film still manages to kind of humanize him the whole time. i honestly was so engaged with him i completely forgot he’s literally a criminal, but he just loves his brother. and it was awesome. and it’s also so well SHOT!!! the cinematography is gorgeous here, with those extreme long takes of cars as they speed somewhere took me away! and the two ending shots of connie in the car realizing the situation (fucking love a good eye actor no wonder he and jlaw work together so well) ends me, and then nick in the special education class, like just stab me already while ur at it. so so so intense i didn’t even realize it was only like 90 something minutes i actually wish it was way longer but maybe that’s just how things have to be. that’s how the real world works. i hate it and i love it. do we ignore the very not black person (who i looked up was israeli) saying the n word or not? can we hope it was written in the script? maybe i just don’t know necro like that? it’s probably something im missing but yeah lmao
