“as god, my father, says, ‘it is only the way it is until we discover the new way it is, and then that is the way it is until we discover the new way it is, and so it goes until the world is no longer flat, electricity lights the night, and shoes are no longer tied with ribbons.’” emma stone is THE actress of her generation there’s no question about it. i am floored by how long this took me to watch (almost 3 years) since hearing about it throughout award season 2023-2024, ofc primarily for the powerhouse performance by stone, getting her that damn oscar and all. one of the few films i actually have 0 complaints about. the direction is masterfully done by yorgos lanthimos my goat. who tf are those vfx artists that worked on all those mystical ass skies and backdrops…? and that CRAZY ASS SCORE!!! and i have to give a round of applause to the amazing screenplay, all the dialogue is so well written, i laughed, i got angry, i got scared, i almost cried of happiness. bella is such a unique character that i wouldn’t mind diving deeper into. she starts out the journey with a completely blank canvas, developing a vocabulary, a sense of right and wrong, what she likes and dislikes whether in food or in people, all the trivial things we dismiss in our everyday lives. she has so much appreciation for them. she vies to learn and absorb as much as she can from a very cruel and unforgiving world. her reaction to the slums of alexandria was only so intense as her vision of the world was skewed, i felt her so deeply. she has so much love to give to a world that treats its creations differently based on its circumstances. she always had the best intentions for people. she always expected the best from people because she genuinely couldn’t imagine people really being that evil… alfie…….. and in the end, she’s able to live with the unfortunate yet satisfying truth. it’s given her a reason to live. that’s what makes being human so unique, as she converses about in the film. it’s all about learning about each other, through our minds, bodies, morals and ethics, sensuality and depravity, what can be distinctly truth or fiction. i love u bella i will die for you. oh to be eaten out by a beautiful french person in a parisian brothel… or am i the crazy one. don’t care
