Donnie Darko

i have so many thoughts towards this movie. i understand why lots of people wouldn’t like it, but i loved this movie. it made me think & feel in a way very few movies have achieved. i expected it to be a mindfuck, but that’s now putting it mildly. it’s all open to interpretation, something i love in movies. donnie is a regular teenager tormented by, well who really knows. his own mind? a six foot evil bunny? a guy named frank? we don’t really know, and it’s never answered. i have my own theory as does everyone else, and i love that. i love not really knowing but having my own answer. now, i’m not really sure what it is about this movie that affected me in such a way, but it does. even if this movie doesn’t seem up your alley, i think everybody should watch it. maybe it’ll end up being a hate-watch for you, or just maybe you can take something away from it that you can’t even explain like i did.
