Sentimental Value
A beautiful film, with incredible performances.
Beyond the emotional aspect, I find it interesting how it discusses cinema as an art form and how much things have changed in the industry. In the end, Gustav can reconnect with his daughter, put her in the role he wrote for her, and spend more time with her, but he still had to surrender to the retarded nonsense of this artificial and bureaucratic Post-Modern cinema.
I would truly love to see his original vision for this film, but unfortunately, the decline of what used to be art prevented him from making it as he had imagined. Cinema is nearing its death, and there is no one who can save it.
