Pulp Fiction
must be a sin to have waited this long to watch pulp fiction. but yeah it was goddamn amazing as expected, a 2+ hour movie that felt like 20 minutes, iconic and definitely Tarantino's best - some messed up stuff in there i didn't expect and wayyyy to many N word drops, like does tarintino realize his movies are cool and that he doesn't have to try that hard to be edgy. I don't know what went wrong in John Travolta and Bruce Willis' careers in the 2010s because these performances did not come out of nowhere and talent like that doesn't just disappear into thin air. Tim Roth being Tim Roth deserves 10/10 as always, same counts for Samual L Jackson but he gets extra credit for this one so 12/10 for him. Tarantino's acting was not as bad as i was expecting having seen whatever clown foolery he put on in Django Unchained, i assumed he would be a hell of a lot worse. Uma Thurman is the poster girl for this movie and no one could pull of that look better than her. I usually hate this kind of narrative stucture, most films in this style are messy or non coherent, but now the format is the reason i love it so much. One thing about old tantan is that he really loves and respects his characters and that shines through the film, they all feel real and interesting. He is one of the only directors that can make small talk in films not only interesting but important, because laughing at a characters joke, wanting to join in on their conversations and having opinions on their opinions adds so much to this movie, adds something i rarely see in mainstream movies or just movies in general and that's creating a friendship between the audience and the characters even if those characters are literal hitmen and murderer's. He understands that characters don't have to be good people or relatable they just have to be interesting, they turn out better when you focus on them being the latter rather than the former. I've only watched this once and it's 2:30 in the morning and my audio is shit but i understand what people say when they say cinematic masterpiece. Also lets not forget about the smaller roles in this film, not everyday you see Steve Buscemi playing a person playing Buddy Holly and Christopher Walken talk about hiding a watch in his ass. clearly a lot of passion and time went into this, and that's enough to gain my respect.
