Bring Her Back
Supernatural fare usually delivers some chilling sequences, and Bring Her Back is one of those. The story follows two kids sent to foster care after their father's death, and let's just say that their caretaker has secrets bubbling underneath.
Phew, this was an emotional roller-coaster that I haven't quite felt for a film going into cold since Train to Busan. You'll definitely feel frustration, sadness and, above all things, stress. If gore is your thing, then the movie goes above and beyond with it - in fact, some scenes made me flinch with how gnarly things got. The characters are really what sells this thing. Aunt Gladys is still in my mind after witnessing Weapons, so the character of Laura gave me those 'off' vibes rather quickly. Sally Hawkins is phenomenal in the role and, as you see more of her true colors come to light, you really detest her guts. The performances from the kid actors are really great, you feel for them immensely as the story progresses. Only gripe I have is that I wish the lore on the characters had more time to be fleshed out, but otherwise terrific film!
