Jojo Rabbit

I rewatched this movie recently with my boyfriend, and it's still amazing. I remember the first time I watched it, I told my mother it was one of my favorite movies of all time, but that I'd never watch it again. I think I actually cried more then second time watching it. Knowing what was coming for JoJo in the scenes where he's just being a kid with his mother were nearly unbearable. The details of how incorrectly and childlike JoJo imagined Hitler is too perfect, from Hitler having green eyes and offering him cigarettes, to "Hitler" quoting his own speech. I think this movie is the best balance of hilarious and heart wrenching I've ever seen in media, and will always be one of my all time favorites. I do think Taika playing a white man and whitening his skin to do so is a little odd,, if he darkened it he would've been in a lot of trouble. Who knows, maybe it's supposed to add to the satire.
