The Evil Dead

AT LEAST one movie a day 2026: #205 "Don't read this words or you're all gonna die.... because I'll read them for you!!" Lol not cool, dude. What the flip.... This is flames... I cannot believe this has never been recommended to me. I've been aware of the franchise for a while, I recognize the references to it and I watched the Kill Count videos long ago, but... Geez Louise. Wow. As a massive fan of practical effects this was an absolute treat. I genuinely find stop motion unsettling and it looked amazing. I wasn't "scared" but this movie is scary as fuck. A great gorey time, I cannot wait to watch the rest of the series - even if it does get notoriously campy. Hopefully not sleazy. I want to give this movie some props for how it handles the assault in the trees. It's still not great, I didn't appreciate that she was moaning and not still screaming and I wasn't too fond of the full view of the entering, but unlike other scenes I've seen it actually had decent camera work that makes it terrifying and sickening without making it as "pleasing" (for lack of a better term) to view as some weirdos. It was handled better than I expected, even if it still wasn't awesome. Amazing cinematography, amazing soundtrack, amazing gore and scares. I am actually flabbergasted. Excellent excellent excellent. It's so much fun to watch you don't even notice that you don't even really know these people,, however I do think they're charactized enough for what the story is. I got enough of a sense of who they were, but not enough to be that upset about them dying. Also random, what happens on the cover art never occurs in the movie. Nitpick.
