Superbad
It’s fitting that the person I first watch Superbad with isn’t my friend anymore. He went down the escalator and I went up, I guess. This movie encapsulates my entire high school and CEGEP experience better than any other film. The first time I watched it, I was half a bottle of rum deep, sitting on my then friend’s couch, and fresh out of a house party. Averaged three beers drank, two beer pong games lost, and zero women talked too. I miss getting off school and going over to your friend’s parent’s house for the pre-drink. This is where we would quote the movies that made us honestly. Stepbrothers, Anchorman, and especially this one. The first time I watched this, I think my stomach hurt from laughing so much, which is hard to come by these days. Nothing sums up how my friends and I chopped it up and being 17 then that opening scene; especially making them pay for me. It’s nice to know that if I ran into that old friend who I haven’t talked to in a couple of years, I’d probably tell him he looks just like Jimmy’s brother and has a voice of an angel. And it’s nice to know that he would get it immediately.
