Kane Parsons just turned 2 hours into 35 minutes. What an absolute treat backrooms was to finally see in theaters. I’ve gotta give all the credit in the world to Kane for making this a thing all those years ago and carrying it onto the big screen in marvelous fashion. I was in absolute awe of multiple aspects of this movie but just to name a few the sound design was flawless and had me anxious as hell, the camera movement was utter insanity, the movement and shifts of aspect ratios, quality, and overall way it shifts throughout different parts of the film, and of course the atmosphere doesn’t get much better. I found myself genuinely scared, intrigued, amused, and overall just happy with this movie. About halfway in I already knew this would become an all time favorite for me, and while the second half was a small drop from the first, it did not dissapoint at all. I will say, the ‘everything must go’ portion of the extended directors release was mediocre at best.
