Scarface
Today marks the one year anniversary of my grandpa passed away. His name was Francisco Rodriguez. He grew up in a poor area of Mexico. He grew up so impoverished that at the age of 8 he had to drop out of school and work in the field to make money for his family. At the age of 18 he would immigrate to the US by foot. And he lived in this country until he passed away. I think the reason why he loved this movie so much is he related to Tony. He related to Tony by being an immigrant. And I think that he wanted to have the same lavish lifestyle as him. Not the lifestyle of drug dealing. But the lifestyle of having big houses and taking care of your family like no problem. Even though he worked by painting houses. He still struggled financially. It didn't help either that he had his on demons struggling with alcoholism. And because of that alcoholism he's no longer here with us. But still I miss my grandfather very deeply. And I hate now under this Trump administration the way they treat immigrants. Because my grandpa did not come here to rape and murder. He came here because he believed in the American dream. And I think to him this movie was the American dream. I'll forever miss you.
Love,
