Look Back
weird how fate, love and loss, and grief works. at first i thought how fast the movie was going, doing time skips in between while showing scenes of them growing up then i realized it was an accurate representation to represent how fast life and time goes by and how quickly a life can be lost early on without anyone ever realizing it or expecting it.
also how quick we are to blame ourselves for losing someone when there was nothing that we could have done in the first place. i thought it was going to show that even if she hadn’t drawn that manga panel, she would have died either way. instead, they showed how they would meet no matter the circumstance—fate, in other words, is ultimately inevitable. kind of reminded me of this conversation with my friend about how i was jokingly saying i was sent by the God above, and in all her seriousness she responded that yes, God did send me to her.
a full circle moment too. fujimoto’s driving force to draw better being kyomoto when they were still in grade school, and in the end, her driving force to continue drawing is still her. keeping people alive through the things they/we love doing. a part of them still present on this Earth.
lovely movie.
maybe in another timeline, it could have been different.
