Sentimental Value
i haven’t seen anyone point out how rachel kemp repeatedly points out how gustav borg doesn’t and wouldn’t want the movie to be in english, no matter how desperate he wants it to be made. because it feels wrong, and it is wrong because it’s their story to tell. language is such a powerful tool that there are things that just can’t be said in just english. and it just can’t be said through some sorry actions, but maybe through an entire script of a movie where apologies probably weren’t made, but there’s a deep seated understanding and cry of understanding that’s been there since childhood. the house becomes a vital character, for crying out loud. because when, exactly, does a home turn into just a house?
(watched this film as my chosen movie comparison to a required film in class for my film comparison paper — comparing it to moonlight (2016) will take work, but it will work)
