It’s certainly trying to be whacky, goofy, and funny. I just honestly wasn’t feeling this. It was a on the verge of a laugh feeling for me the entire way. Edged into a shallow time for me.

I think what I like the most about this is the distinct coldness in which it turns. A preppy pink weird ditzy appearing girl turns flat out demon. We do not fret over her personality. Nor do we give her emotions context. We don’t make you feel for her with an over enthralling backstory, what makes her heart tick, what she’s like, who she is, what she’s seen. It is all now. Despicable, wicked acts have fallen on her. Now she flips. A demonic séance falls onto her crown, she will wipe them all. Blood floods everywhere, coats the rubble of outside to the walls of the apartment. This shall not end until this wicked is punished. Terse flip. We still know nothing, only that the thirst has been quenched. The absolute smoothness and silence of that flip, that is the punch of the film.

A sail into self discovery. A shallow man finds himself. Not through chasing money and the moment, but through family. Through seeing true heart shown and following suit. Growing a conscious never feels more fulfilled than when that smile appears on that young child’s face, all actions are absolved now, you’re free to smile and live. I really remembered this as a sports movie when it is very much not. The love is all out on display here. Looking at yourself truly in the mirror and chasing it out of necessity and want. Not just one or the other. We truly watch Jerry morph into a good man. Beautifully human. A giddy laugh filled ride of humility.

Just a beautiful one to sit with. A man letting everything and everyone run over him for sake of climbing that good ole ladder. But learning to become a human through ditching it all. In the hands of a woman he finds himself. Very beautiful to watch the slow tip over of realization for him. The over busy office turning to a simple card game.
