Andrei Rublev
Andrei Rublyov: What you said was true. The truth.Feofan Grek: So what if I said it then? You are wrong now. I was wrong then.
I find rating this film very complicated. Objectively speaking, this is one the best movies ever created. In the span of 3 hours, a beautiful story gets told. It’s a cinematic masterpiece with one of the most beautiful cinematography of all time. I, myself am not a religious man, and eventough the dialogue was beautifully crafted, It did not struck me. I have no problem with religious aspects of a movie, as the Seventh is even one of my favorite, but this one just didn’t do the job for me. I know it’s the whole plot of the movie, but it wasn’t completely for me (I still liked it, just can’t appreciate on it’s fullest level)
I really did love the story tho, It told an emotionally charged story, and when the story comes to It’s conclusion, It did something with me. I feel kind of empty after finishing as I’m still trying to process what I just watched. Like I mentioned before, this movie has one of the most beautiful cinematography I have ever seen. The acting was remarkable, and the characters were given lots of depth bringing the story really to life.
Overall, It’s a masterpiece, that for me balances between the 4,5 and 5 rating, leaning mostly to the 5 stars.
Truly a timeless masterpiece and for the first time I can appreciate a Tarkovsky movie🙏
Low 5/5
