Parasite
For the first hour my general opinion was this movie is made really well. There are surely some deeper messages I am getting, and more nuanced one’s I am not. I sure hope it stocked the landing. Then, about half an hour later, my thoughts were oh, this is getting really interesting. Still really well made, but these are the freaky weird plot points that I wanted to come out. I sure hope it sticks the landing. Then, maybe 20 minutes later, my thoughts were holy shit, it stuck the landing way better than I could have ever thought. Then the movie kept going, and for a second my thoughts were oh my god, they just undid the whole. But then they really didn’t and it was fine.
Yeah, super amazing movie that took me way too long to watch. The obvious messages came to me like conning their way into the family and then being forced to serve them when they need to work on their own life, and when the housekeeper was in their position but they refused to give her grave. But as I had said, I am sure there’s deeper messages that blew past me. Regardless, that ending is one of the craziest I’ve seen and this movie gets like 3 bonus points that it doesn’t even need. If anything, I wished for a little more emotional beats and a more thought provoking resolution, but I like that it circled back to making a plan when we learned that plans are pointless - especially that plan.
